Bronze was an upturn for Norway – Bergens Tidende

Norway had won the last four mixedstafettene championship. Yet was not disappointment large over Thursday’s bronze.

Kontiolahti (Aftenposten): The shooting, with one exceptions set. Skis slipped common good. Cross country shape was OK.

Norwegian biathletes, who for the past six weeks have doubted whether they were on the wrong track in front of the World Cup, got some good answers. That Tiril Eckhoff clumsy horrible on his standing shooting and probably misplaced Norwegian gold, were forgiven already at the finish.

– Yes, this was in many ways an upswing. For my own part, this is my debut in the World Cup. To begin VM his career with a medal, I am very pleased with, told Johannes Thingnes Bø after the race where Czech took the gold and silver France.

Ryddesjauen by Eckhoff

Tiril Eckhoff regretted that she did not get it.

– I’m just glad that the others now cleans up after me here. It was also very tough to go today. I’m glad I managed to get the goal, she told after his leg.

She missed twice. Clumsy with charging and proceeded to miss.

A penalty round was too tough in this company. After the girls had gone their part of the mixed relay, Norway was a half minute behind leading Belarus and Darya Domracheva.

John Thingnes Bo would get patted on the shoulder of just Tiril Eckhoff. He stood in the stadium and saw it all.

– It’s a bit like that one banner little inside when you’re standing there and watching a teammate struggle. But then why not just attack a little harder. It may just this meant that I managed better today told youngest Bo.

faultless shooting

On the first leg had Fanny Welle-Strand Horn shot flawlessly, yet had it heavily in the slot. Sugar snow in Kontiolahti favored not the heaviest girls.

– I had hoped to be a little faster on skis, but shooting was perfect. It was not compared to me today told Fanny Welle-Strand Horn.

The brothers Bo was in charge of the men’s part of the relay. Tarjei Bø had gotten anchor leg. His form after Christmas has not been all over the world. It has acted much about disease and poor results. Now he would fight with Martin Fourcade, World leader and the best biathlete this season. It was not an unequal struggle. But even with flawless shooting unable brother Bo to keep up with the Frenchman. The shooting was he happy with.

– There I proceeded on the range today, is perhaps the best I’ve done. I was fast, quiet, offensive, yet I had control, said a smiling Tarjei Bø.

For tough slot

Fourcade he had not the opportunity to chastise the track.

– It was a special situation. The snow was so tough and go in and he had ten feet of me. I went all I had, but he did well. Actually I managed to keep the distance until the outrun. Then he went away from me, unfortunately, lamented Tarjei Bø.

– Did not you a little into him at the end?

– Obviously there was play his to burn from the start of the final round and thus get such a large lead that it was impossible to take him again. He succeeded with it told Bo.

Male Coach Egil Gjelland stood on the firing line during the race and was clear that this was approved.

– Today we win a bronze medal. This bodes very well for the rest of the championship, said an optimistic master trainer after it was all over.

Difficult lead

It was very difficult conditions in Kontiolahti this evening. A persistent mild weather has ensured that the snow, which is groomed over and over again, behaved like sugar around skis.

The conditions were similar to what was under 50-kilometer Falun last Sunday. It was also a challenge for butter holders led by lubricating manager Morten Hegle Svendsen. He was on study Falun together with the Norwegian cross-country butter holders. Therefore did not snow conditions as no surprise to him.

– It was hard for many and the lighter runners had an advantage. However, it seems as if we’ve hit ordinary good on wax, said lubricating boss.
