Diouf lost her mother in the accident in Mecca – VG

The mother of the former Molde striker Mame Biram Diouf (27) will be among those who were trampled to death at Mecca last month.

Premier League star’s club Stoke has condolences player and writes on its website that it will provide Diouf «all the support he needs in an extremely difficult time” after the tragic death.

More than 700 people were trampled to death on the way to Islam’s holy city of Mecca during the pilgrimage for two weeks ago.

Claiming more than 1,000 perished

According to local authorities killed 769 people, but foreign media suggest that the number is over 1000. And BBC writes that Diouf mother thus is among the fatalities.

– Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and friends, writes Stoke City in a statement on its website.

Lived in Dakar

The mother, Gnilane Diouf, lived in Dakar in Senegal and Mame Biram Diouf was often visiting in connection with the national collections. His sister said to have been slightly injured during the pilgrimage.

Mame Biram Diouf went on folk in Molde in 2007, before the age of 18 signed a contract with Molde. In summer 2009 he was sold to Manchester United and made his debut for the club in January 2010.

Prior to joining Stoke last summer, playing Diouf in the Bundesliga for Hannover 96.
