RBK leader: – We have decided to start with elite – TV 2

Stig Inge Bjørnebye is Rosenborgs new sporting director, and successor to the Erik Hoftun in position.

It confirmed Premier League club Friday afternoon.

Rosenborg chairman Ivar Koteng confirmed to TV2 that Bjørnebye was first choice for the position.

– He has a background and a way of working that we have very believe. V have decided to start with elite Rosenborg and we believe that he can build a taxonomy that contribute to it, says Koteng.

Koteng do not think the fact that Bjørnebye have not been directly involved in club operation since 2007 becomes a handicap in his new job.

– may he come in and look at this with fresh eyes. It is not true that Norwegian club football has evolved so dramatically in recent years, so we think that to come in with new eyes and a great thought about quality improvement are important, he said.

The chair also points three important things about why Bjørnebye is right man for the job.

– He has played football at a high level and it is a nice experience, he has worked with quality improvements in NFF and he has a good position internationally, he said.

Bjørnebye comes from a position as head of development in NFF and also has a past as an assistant on the national team between 2003 and 2006 and coach for Start 2006 summer 2007.

In his time player he was one of Drillos most trusted men, and played regularly at left-back throughout the successful era of the 90s. He also has a playing career in RBK referring to, since he signed for them before the 1992 season.

It was only with one year initially, then Premier League club Liverpool lid him to England after the Norwegian Cup final autumn 1992. Here he was to 2000, except for a brief loan to Rosenborg in 1994. He also played for Brondby on loan and then Blackburn before retiring in 2003.

It was Dagbladet earlier today first publicized case, and even then was Rosenborg supporters very positive.

– There was some good news. It’s an exciting guy who has good relations with us before. He has very good relations, said CORE spokesman Espen Viken TV 2.
