Zlatan expelled – Mourinho eliminated – Aftenposten

Zlatan Ibrahimovic were expelled. Jose Mourinho and Chelsea were knocked out.

Chelsea Paris St.Germain (1-1 after normal time, 2 -2 after extra time, 3-3 overall)

– Teams that can not defend themselves on two corners, does not deserve to go further, fastlo Mourinho in an interview with Viasat.

For the BBC, he said:

– Now I’ll talk quietly with my players. We’ll talk about why we busted. I want to know how they felt on the pitch during the match. Conclude we can do afterwards. But they were stronger than us, they handled the pressure better. But one man less, they had nothing to lose. We could not handle it, said Mourinho.

there was a football drama in several acts at Stamford Bridge.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paris St. Germain are through to the quarter finals of the Champions League.

The game was well played maybe not. But it happened very much on the way:

First, Zlatan expelled.

20 minutes before finally sent Gary Cahill Chelsea in the lead.

When thought “everyone” that the London team will check into the promotion to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

But the old Chelsea hero David Luiz, who else would it differently when he five minutes before finally magnificently scored the equalizer at Stamford Bridge.

– After the expulsion we kept a cool head and showed character. We continued to play our football, said Luiz according Get French Football.

Five minutes into the second half of extra time sent Eden Hazard in new management on penalties after Thiago Silva had arm. But six minutes before the end in the second half of extra time gets Thiago Silva 2-2 goal and the French were on away goals.

PSG was ahead with one man less for 90 minutes. And it was deserved against a very careful Chelsea side at home.

Went Wrong again Zlatan

Super Swede has won 11 of 13 possible league since leaving Malmö in summer 2001.

But Zlatan is often criticized because he has never succeeded in the Champions League.

He has one lost semifinal Barcelona in 2010.

Now, he and Paris St. Germain opportunity against Chelsea. After 1-1 in Paris in the first meeting in quarter final had Swede a legitimate hope of advancement.

But it went terribly wrong after over an half hour game at Stamford Bridge.

33-year-old came late into in a tackle on Chelsea’s Oscar. But it was far from ugly, he did not enter with straight legs, and looked to “opt out” of the tackle. And it was uglier episodes in the fight which was more qualified for the red card (hey Diego Costa!).

But Judge Björn Kuipers, which is usually a steady match official, thought it was straight red card.

Natural enough frantic protests from Paris players. Protests against the judge has rarely helped, nor this time.

– I do not know if it was a red card. But I talked to Zlatan after the game and he said it was not a red card. He is an honest guy and I believe in him, said Mourinho about the situation.

Champions League expert

Chelsea were ahead at 0-0. Both guests and hosts took little risk from the start. They took their time with the ball and it was with some next chances.

About Chelsea felt they had some kind of control before the game, so they had it at least after the expulsion of Zlatan.

It was about safety, whether to salvage the promotion. For there is something Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho can then it is to obtain the “right” result. It is not without reason that the Portuguese have been in the semifinals or finals eight times in the Champions League.

But after a scant hour kept it going terribly wrong. Chelsea was a little too bold, Edison Cavani was suddenly all alone through after a great through ball by Thiago Motta. Cavani went off goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and from the angle he shot towards the open goal. But the ball hit the post!

PSG was closest. Among other Javier Pastores attempt from an acute angle that ended the net.

Costa should have been expelled

Chelsea was still one man more on the pitch, but the guests were the best in what evolved into to be a testy settlement. Quarter before finally ought teams had an equal number of the pitch. However, Diego Costa was very lucky to escape with a yellow card for a “interference” was worse than Zlatans.

10 minutes before finally sent Gary Cahill Chelsea in the lead. Captain John Terry won a duel after a corner. Diego Costa missed the ball. But Cahill score a goal from 13 and a half feet.

Deserved? No.

But there was a profit after Mourinho taste.

Chelsea looked to be on. But so easy it was not for Mourinho cautious layers. Five minutes before the end offset the old Chelsea hero David Luiz with a magnificent header after a corner.

Silva fell and sins

The teams had to get out in extra time and it was not more than five minutes before the blue from London west got a penalty. Central defender Thiago Silva giant went up in a duel with his hand, barely hits the ball, and Kuipers gave a penalty.

Hazard put the ball in the middle of the goal, goalkeeper threw himself to the right, and 2-1 to Chelsea.

Could PSG hit back once more? Yes!

And talking about revenge for Thiago Silva, who caused the penalty. Six minutes before the end in the second half of extra time gets Silva 2-2 goal after winning duel against Chelsea captain John Terry.

It was 3-3 overall and PSG further because of away goals rule.

And naturally there was immense joy scenes among PSG supporters.
