Believes Ødegaard can be “eaten alive” by Santiago Bernabéu – VG

NYDALEN (VG) Martin Ødegaard (16) is finally play again for Real Madrid. But Rafael Benitez hinted that he is not going to wade in minutes for the first team this season. And that is good, according to AS-journalist Carlos Alberto Forjanes.

– He’s not ready. He needs time off. It would be devastating for his development playing too much for Real Madrid. For if you miss a shot or an easy pass in Madrid, the audience at Santiago Bernabeu pipe, pipe, pipe.

– One gets 80,000 people against them. It can be dangerous for such a young player. We have seen so many young players who have been ruined by Santiago Bernabéus unforgiving audience. They are so hard. If they see that a player is nervous, so they eat him alive, says Forjanes VG.

He follows Real Madrid close to the Madrid-based newspaper AS.

– Maybe a year to the Castilla, then a loan to a smaller La Liga club, and he will come back as a more mature player that can handle the pressure. When he is 18 years, maybe, says Forjanes.

Confirmed time

Maybe it was because Cristiano Ronaldo had to stay home and heal his injury, but there was no doubt who was greeted with the highest cries when Real Madrid players arrived his hotel in Nydalen Saturday night. It was Martin Ødegaard. 16-year-old smiled, waved and looked very comfortable out when he walked from the team bus to the hotel, rolling in a suitcase.

Fifteen minutes after super stars’ arrival was set for a press conference with coach Rafael Benitez, and then it went as it tends to do when Real Madrid attacker: Fort. Very fast.

Eight minutes it took from the Spanish coach sat down on the podium until he left it. And during the eight minutes shopped mostly, not surprisingly, about a 16-year-old boy from Drammen.

– We have great faith in him. The most important thing for him is to be patient and take one step at a time. We must know, he must know and you must understand it, said Benítez with a smile.

Lite confidence teens

55-year-old confirmed that Ødegaard will get some play in today’s game against Valerenga.

He was not sparing with the use of words such as “young” and “patient”. As if he was trying to prepare a hopeful Norwegian people that Ødegaard not going to wade into the game just yet.

For Benitez does not have that habit of giving 16- and 17-year olds profusion of chances to play, whether it has been in Valencia, Liverpool, Inter, Chelsea or Napoli.

– He has brought in some young players to the clubs he has been in, but not to give them time with once. Benitez prefer older players with more experience, because he wants his team to be tactically disciplined, robust and competitive, explains Carlos Alberto Forjanes.

– Needs time

In During his lightning meeting with the press could Benítez inform that it has not yet been a decision where Ødegaard will play this season, but he was in dialogue with the Castilla coach Zinedine Zidane.

– We must decide what is the best for him, I spoke to Zidane the other day to discuss his future, and we must be cautious. The idea is that he trains with the first team and is ready to play tomorrow. He is smart and likes to train and work, says Benítez.

– Do you think that it may be harmful for Ødegaard getting so much attention at such a young age?

– Hopefully it’s not too much pressure on Ødegaard. He is a good player with a lot of talent. We must protect him and find out when it is convenient for him to play. Everything seems positive with him, but we must be patient, said Benítez VG questions.

Ronaldo injured

Before he disappeared up to his hotel room, he managed to make that the injury that keeps Cristiano Ronaldo home in Madrid, not too serious.

– It’s not an injury, only a small nuisance, so we give him rest. Ronaldo had a problem earlier and work with the injury. Next week he is ready for battle. We are sorry (that he is not with the Oslo), but such things we have no control over.
