* Viking – Molde 3-0 (2-0)
STAVANGER (Dagbladet): Last season won Molde 5-1 when they cast Viking out of the cup. Wednesday got the Stavanger club his revenge.
Viking has not won a single title since they last won the cup at Ullevål in 2001. Then the neighboring rival Bryne turned. Wednesday night they met blåkledde Molde to quarterfinal of the Cup at Viking Stadium.
After two games without a win was romsdalingene desperately looking for a win in the tournament, which in all likelihood would be their only opportunity to bring home a trophy this season.
– There was much punch in the stands, and it was delicious, delicious to deliver at home, said Capt Sigurdsson to TV2 after the game.
– We do it here in town. People get back belief Viking, says coach Kjell Jonevret.
Linde downturn continued
Molde goalkeeper Andreas Linde can not be said to have had a good start to his career in the Premier League. The Swede was expelled on a small surreal way in the previous matchday against Odd, when he was ripped off by Jone Samuelsen.
The downturn was in no way ready for Linde. After ten minutes of play failed communication between Linde and defender Martin Linnes comprehensive. The goalkeeper collided with left-back and dropped the ball.
Samuel Adegbenro was not to ask twice. Nigeria guy scores a goal from a somewhat acute angle.
Bödvarsson did everything yourself
Molde had not been over played in the first half, neither before nor after Abdullahi goal. Last year’s cup had still too little front Iven Austbø in Viking goal.
At the other end took homemade care of their chances. Eight minutes before the break scored Jon Dadi Bodvarsson ball in his own half and feinted away a couple Molde players.
The Icelander was never stopped and turns giving him an easy job to send Viking into two goal lead , defender Andreas Linde. Viking walked off the field to a standing ovation and loud applause.
More chances after the break
The next forty-five minutes appeared to fairly equally as the first forty-five. Both teams were still in the battle and Molde was constantly looking for his first goal.
After 58 minutes of play had Iven Austbø at full stretch to push away the ball to Mohamed Elyounussi. The rebound went to Ola Kamara, who cried in vain penalty.
Stein Thor Thorsteinsson was also close scoring, but finished just outside the post two minutes after.
Gigantic dommerbrøler
In Cup is the principle of “win or disappearances” that prevails. You lose, you can not be with anymore. Therefore lifted gladly ignition level and intensity even a few notches in these battles.
Sometimes things go wrong. After an hour of play so Makthar Thioune out to beat a player in the face after Etzaz Hussain tackled Samuel Adegbenro hard. After much back and forth became captain Indridi Sigurdsson awarded with a yellow card, most likely for protests.
A very questionable situation, where by all appearances should have been judged differently.
Sigurdsson revenge
Indridi Sigurdsson was furious after being awarded a yellow card by referee Tore Hansen. Three minutes from time did the captain his revenge.
Just outside the box he knocked home a free kick, and decided thus the game.
Viking therefore went to the semifinals of the Cup, while Molde on his side was out.
