Monk was fired – Moyes or Rodgers to take over – TV 2

It confirms Swansea on their websites.

– Swansea City has today reluctantly terminated its relationship with Garry Monk. With uncertainty surrounding the club lately has the decision been taken with regard to the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and its supporters, writes the team in a statement.

– Had to happen
Swansea has had a sluggish start to the season and are just one win in their last ten league games.

– Garry took the job for only 22 months ago, and considering how the club managed under his leadership last season we had never envisaged that this would happen, says S Wansee chairman Huw Jenkins.

– But with the club’s development this season and uncertainty we found sadly out that this was a necessary grip to take to clarify the situation and move forward. It was not an easy decision, he said.

Swansea has not been any substitutes for Monk in place, but say they are working on it .

– We hope to have a replacement in place as soon as possible, says Jenkins.

Rodgers or Moyes favorites to take over
According usually so well informed BBC, there are currently two hot candidates to take over as the new manager of Swansea: Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes.

Brendan Rodgers will be the biggest favorite of the two to replace Garry Monk. Rodgers has famously coached Swansea earlier but left the club in favor of Liverpool in 2011.

Rodgers led Liverpool to silver in the league in 2012 / 2013 season, but had to leave Anfield in October after three years as manager of the club.

David Moyes was manager for over ten years in Everton before he took over Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson gave in 2013. But Moyes got only be manager at Old Trafford for ten season.

Then the journey went to Spanish football and Real Sociedad, but also here got Moyes sacked after a short stay in the team.

Monk regime
Monk, standing book with over 200 appearances for Swansea, took over the club as coach when Michael Laudrup was fired in February 2014. Laudrup had to leave the team after missing results.

When Monk took over as manager he introduced a new regime at the club.

Players got more responsibility and he demanded that most should be done together as a team. Among other things, banned his agents and mobiles on the training ground and demanded that all communications should be in English.

It yielded results and last season ended Swansea eighth – the team’s best Premiership location ever.
