HOLMENKOLLEN (Dagbladet): Skigiganten Fischer scraped together several of biathlon stars to a press conference at the konkuransefrien day in Holmenkollen today.
And – smart enough – they put a phone down to Marit Bjoergen (35) who lives just down the neighborhood and invited her too.
Although both Tiril Eckhoff, Tarjei Bo and several of the biggest foreign stars were present, it was Bjorgen most media people would talk to afterwards.
– You’re welcome, said Marit after answering questions for over an hour about everything from breastfeeding practices to comeback plans. Lille Marius – more than two months old now – was, of course, are well packed in a baby carriage.
Form is fresh
Marit Bjoergen still plans to start with competitions again in Bjorgen ski race in his native village Rognes 12 March.
– But not call it a comeback. Rennet is 42 km far and I do not exactly feel ready to go in the basement now, says Marit – and laughs.
– I have experienced that form is perishable, and yet it is too early for me to deliver at a level where I can assert myself. NM Beitostølen after Easter will be the first serious race for me. But I do not expect all the world there either, says Marit who have received clear evidence that pregnancy and birth – naturally – has done his with it through trained her body.
– The tests I’ve taken on Olympiatoppen do not lie. It is far up. But I am determined to do the job and get back to the level I’ve been on before. But it takes time, I’m probably not return as before next season.
– And when the goal is?
– No, it will be to fight for the coveted medals, says Marit.
New life – new routines
Marit Bjørgen trained the day before she gave birth, and she did not take that long break afterwards either. But obviously it is not talking about the same level as before.
– Form matures quickly. It makes strength too. It makes me well, but it’s not so surprising, says Marit Dagbladet.
She also says that her life – nor particularly surprising – is quite different now after little Marius took place as the family’s obvious focal point.
– Clearly there is a big difference. Many new routines. We must make new plans. I still have not slept a consecutive night after birth, he will have food twice a night, says Marit.
And adds:
– But it’s actually just cozy, something one soon gets used to.
Yet she trains about 20 hours a week, and believe she will manage to work their way up the good old level. So terrifying level.
– The goal is clear. I will challenge Johaug and the other at the top. And I think I can handle it, says Marit Bjoergen before she leaves biathletes press conference at Holmenkollen.
