(Dagbladet): Former national team captain and Viasat football expert Rune Bratseth (55) says that he 26 days ago got stroke. Having been out on a jog, did 55-year-old getting ready to watch the biathlon World Cup on television.
When Bratseth going into the kitchen he felt, however, that something was wrong with his arm. In retrospect, he has explained that he had lost the feeling in the skin. Shortly thereafter, he began to feel pain radiate from the neck up to the head. It led him to call his son immediately and ask him to contact paramedics.
– The investigations of heart seemed perfectly fine. Also in the ambulance went fine. It looked all right out. After some more research put the firm that it had been a plakkbit from hovedpulsåra throat up to the head which had led to the tiny matter that I knew, says Bratseth in an interview with Viasat.
– Was worried
The former national giant has been engaged with Viasat for years and been a part of the channel’s Champions League. A scar on the neck of the operation is the only visible difference between the former RBK- and Werder Bremen player.
Sport Head of Viasat Sport Norway and MTG, Stian Aune Kleppo, said he was upset when he early got the message about Bratseth stroke .
– I have been in dialogue with Rune during the whole process. We were worried for a while, but we’ve had good dialogue with Rune and family. I have felt confident that he has received the help he should. He has been under expert treatment by doctors at St. Olav’s Hospital and we are very pleased that it has gone as well as it has done, says Kleppo Dagbladet.
– It is good that he is back on its feet and in the studio already. When I talked to Rune last week, he was very clear that he was back at work again tonight. There he felt ready, says Kleppo.
– Skin disappeared
In a six-minute interview that was published this afternoon explains Bratseth about drama he experienced in early March:
– Last time I was here (in Viasat studio) was 9 March. The 10th I came home. It was a great day in Trondelag. So when I took a trip out on skis. It was not a long walk. I felt not like fighting shape. I went home again. I was going and see biathlon World Cup. I had showered and overall me, so I should just off the kitchen. As I stood there, I stood and looked at my hand and felt that something was not right. In hindsight, I know that it was the feeling of the skin disappeared, says Bratseth.
He adds:
– had only been there, I do not think I had reacted like that on it, for it quickly passed. But then I got a radiation upward neck. A buddy who had a heart attack on Christmas spoke of radiation on both sides of the neck. So there was no doubt that I thought a little in that direction when it happened. It blackened bit for me, says the former Werder Bremen player.
Back in the studio
Bratseth is still back in the channel’s Champions League broadcast tonight. – I was dizzy, but it lasted only 10-15 seconds. But I was home alone and thought that I had to act. Maybe faints I now. Maybe it’s serious. I must make sure I get help. So I called my son that I had just been in contact with and asked him to call 113. I was not in shape, says Bratseth. – They came and took me to hospital. I have not had any problem in retrospect, no injury, nothing to do with language or anything. I have felt 100 percent healthy, really. But still, then. I almost got a shock when I heard it was in the category of life. I feel not mean that I’m in that category, but it’s like that now. And when there was not any harm by it, I’ve been extremely lucky because I understand of course that it could well much worse, says Bratseth.
Rune Bratseth played Rosenborg from 1983 to 1986, in Bremen from 1987 to 1994. He played 60 caps for Norway.
