Northug break the silence: – I want to win gold for Norway – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): After Ski Federation Monday announced that Petter Northug can not compete for Norway the upcoming season, has Northug camp remained silent.

Team Northug never gave FIS received within the given deadline.

– I regret that it again is noise around my person and my sporting choices. I need to say to all: My goal is to go fast ski for Norway in the World Cup – for the winter and the coming winters, writes Northug in the press release.

Representation Runner

– The only thing I has asked the Norwegian Ski Federation is about to stand by the conditions I was submitted prior to the decision to establish own initiative outside the national team. The rules still allow that I can be defined as representation runner, but FIS has not shown a willingness to use this room for maneuver. Therefore I have neither black yes or no to the agreement I has been submitted.

– Because I really want to win more gold for Norway. The aim is to humiliate rivals in World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Games for the next three seasons. In addition, I plan on selected long runs.

Northug alleges in the press release that FIS has abandoned his promises and changed the rules since he started off the national team in 2013.

FIS has in the negotiations submitted Northug the same deal he had last season, but Skikongen want a deal more like the one he had in 13/14 season.

Dagbladet update case.

Full press release:

I’m sorry that it again is noise around my person and my sporting choices. I need to say to all: My goal is to go fast ski for Norway in the World Cup – for the winter and the coming winters. The only thing I have asked the Norwegian Ski Federation is about to stand by the conditions I was submitted prior to the decision to establish own initiative outside the national team.

The rules still allow that I can be defined as representation runner, but FIS has not shown a willingness to use this room for maneuver. Therefore I have neither black yes or no to the agreement I has been submitted. This morning I came home to Trondheim again after 20 days at altitude training in Italy.

I have trained well and had the fewest possible disruptions to ensure the mental tranquility necessary to focus one hundred percent on top quality in every training session. Along the way I have seen countless times for me enthusiastic audience faces and weary competitors while I proudly have gone with the Norwegian flag on the shirt. It triggers me. Because I really want to win more gold for Norway. The aim is to humiliate rivals in World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Games for the next three seasons.

In addition, I plan on selected long runs. It was this long-term nature, freedom to organize my own life and exercise, try new methods and solutions – not to mention build my own future I wanted when I in 2013 took the choice to remain outside the national team. The choice was between adding the skis on the shelf, or stand outside the national team and bet on with their own event. Before the decision, I prayed Ski Federation to clarify the conditions that would apply if I relied on their own – and even paid the bill for flights, hotel stays, pay my own

trainer, physiotherapist, ski answer all etc.

Ski Federation was then informed that Coop was the eventual partner. One of those who gave clear answers were then Director of Sports for cross country – Skinstad. He was – also in writing – very clear that I could be representation runs – with the rights and obligations that apply in connection with races and championships.

In the time after I took my decision in 2013, the FIS abandoned both their promises and changed the rules and their interpretation to force me back to the national team. National Team and the way it is run is fantastic – but I do not fit into the model. I get more treningsro, energy and motivation on the outside.

I have not been out on the national team and pray that I do not get it. Thus, I can be representation runner and treated equally as any other outside national team and not asking for special arrangements. I take responsibility and costs for summer training, pre-season, skit stitch, coaches, medical apparatus, height stay – yes everything that NOT all about to go trough.

Of course I will participate under the conditions that apply to everyone else who then goes for Norway. Including being loyal to national team sponsors when I represent. I do not want neither Norwegian sports or Norwegian skiing hurt. I do not challenge national model, but asks that the premise underlying my choice in 2013 continue to apply.

The standard model is not suitable for everyone. Other runners who want to stand outside will not be affected by factors other than the current rules. I only ask to be allowed to do things the way I have to make them for it to work for me. For that I will again be able to win ski races for Norway. I only ask to get make the Ski Federation said I could make do.
