Falla smartest and beat the competition – TV 2

Ski Tour Canada began with sprint Tuesday. Maiken Caspersen Falla, ingvild flugstad østberg and Heidi Weng took it to the final.

In a smooth finale was Falla smartest in the bend before the run and hammered away with victory in front Stina Nilsson and Jessica Diggins.

Weng finished fourth ahead FLUGSTAD Ostberg and Ida Ingemarsdottir.

– It was absolutely perfect. We have been here for many days known for being very tired and had a long journey. Now it is wonderful to finally be underway. I’ve enjoyed myself very long to. Now comes days to go very fast and now we have to be focused on starting and relax between beats. Now I’ve already accomplished something here and can lower your shoulders. This will be great fun, says Falla to NRK after the race.

Johaug: – My own fault

Therese Johaug was the rod out from the start in the quarterfinals. Already out of the starting area, she was behind the competition and failed to find a good position ahead of the race. That means she is just under a minute behind FLUGSTAD Ostberg after the first race.

– It is fully my own fault. I must be more active and more in position I’ll do it. That I could not today. We started the tour and finished with a sprint. I look to the 10 km tomorrow, explaining Johaug to TV2.

Now, 27-year-old recoup seconds on their fiercest rivals in the coming races. Ski Tour Canada is different than the Tour de Ski, Johaug was eventually was superb up the monster hill.

In Canada becomes smoother think Johaug, who eyes the hope of taking seconds and reduce the gap to the front.

– it is certain bonus seconds being handed out on the 15 km. We will walk 10 km skating individually, as I also have good experiences with before and I can retrieve seconds. There will also be released bonus seconds. Sure, it’s three minutes being released in bonus here plus ten in the prologue. It gets a little way up up I think. It can get pretty smoothly up to the top, predicts Johaug.

– She is the biggest favorite

The two biggest favorites are enough Johaug and FLUGSTAD Ostberg, but skiing stars think one teammate gets dangerous .

– I think of course that I and Ingvild will be in the lead there, but I think obviously that Heidi and Astrid going to do well. Personally, I think Heidi Weng will make a good tour here. She is keen on going fast and there is a Tour that might suit her well. She has shown rising form and to be honest I think she is the biggest favorite, says Johaug to TV2, and elaborates:

– I’ve seen that Heidi’s form curve has been rising since the Tour de Ski. Before Christmas, she was not on the ball and was not where she use to be. Now onwards, she has come in the form and got second place in duathlon in Lahti.

– But you give without a fight?

– No, I will fight to “the bitter end.”

NB: Ragnhild Haga was fifth in his quarterfinal heat, while Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen finished fourth in his heat.
