Riise willing to denounce Betsson Agreement – VG

John Arne Riise (35) shall thereafter VG be willing to terminate the agreement with the foreign gaming company Betsson to be allowed to sign for Aalesund FK .

After the VG know has Riise recently realized that his football career seemed to be over, but the game company he is ambassador wanted to give him the opportunity to end his career with little brother in AaFK.

Betsson therefore launched the idea that the parties terminates the cooperation so Riise can play elite football in Norway. After that VG has Riise given NFF informed that he will be willing to terminate the contract with game company.

VG has been in contact with 35-year-old who in 16.30 o’clock Tuesday said he did not want to comment on the matter right now. On his blog he writes:

– Today there has been a lot of waiting. Many parties involved. Many different opinions on how things can be resolved. I have said and done mine. Now I just smear me with patience. I go on the walls. But I see light at the tunnel. Things turn around quickly in football. Suddenly you get negative news. The idea that it is not solved there obviously. I try to make the time to go.

Aalesund FK and Riise is already agreed on the main points of a deal for the 2016 season. Club director Henrik Hoff has asked NFF and Norwegian Toppfotball about a quick clarification.

– We must have absolute clarity that this does not conflict with their agreement with the Norwegian Tipping. Now, I hope a quick answer because we want John Arne ready to play as soon as possible, says Hoff told VG.

up to NFF

Now it’s up to the NFF and Norwegian Toppfotball to determine whether termination of Betsson agreement is enough that the former Champions League winner will be allowed to make a comeback in Norwegian football.

– it had been a glorious news about John Arne Riise plays in the Premier League this season, but it is an absolute condition in relation to the contracted obligations with Norwegian Tipping. This stands NFF and NTF together. Riise know very well what this condition is, which applies to all players in top football in Norway. So it’s up to him to choose, says NFF kommunikajonssjef Yngve Haavik VG.

Riise hit the headlines when he in 2013 became ambassador for Betsson, and since then has been one of the prominent figures for the company.

There has recently been an open conflict between Riise, NFF and Norwegian Tipping whether Riise should be allowed to sign for a Norwegian club – unless he breaches the agreement with gaming company.

So far Riise stood his ground, and been clear in his speech that he wishes to terminate the agreement.

– We can not discuss contracts in the media, but we have and have had a good dialogue with John Arne three years. He knows where he has us. When it comes to football his career so it is only he who decides upon it. We have never and will never decide where he will play. The agreement expires in 2017, says Mikael Mellqvist Betsson Group VG.

Now he therefore be willing to do just that to be a teammate with his little brother Bjørn Helge Riise in Aalesund – that series opens against Stabæk Friday.
