Now artificial common than natural grass in Norway and Sweden – Sunnmørsposten

Entire 9 of 16 teams in Norwegian league next season plays on kunstgress:

  • Aalesund
  • Bodø/Glimt
  • Molde
  • Mjøndalen
  • Odd
  • Sarpsborg
  • Start
  • Strømsgodset
  • Tromsø

Nå and only those 7 having naturgress:

  • Haugesund
  • Lillestrøm
  • Rosenborg
  • Sandefjord
  • Stabæk
  • Viking
  • Vålerenga

Tallet on kunstgresslag is higher than ever since two naturgresslag relegated last year (Fire and Sandnes Ulf), while two kunstgresslag uprooted (Tromsø and Mjøndalen).

Years debate

In Norway debate on natural grass versus artificial raged for many years, really since NFF opened in 2003.

Now the debate in full swing in Sweden, where it also gets record number turf battles in 2015. Eight of Allsvenskan 15 venues have received artificial turf.

– I still think it is j … says Marcus Rosenberg Aftonbladet.

– Disaster

He is the reigning champions with Malmö and Series biggest star.

– Disaster! Real football is played on natural grass. It makes one in Europe, so why should not we do it, ask Rosenberg.

The newspaper also talked with several overseas pros who say that a return to Swedish football is less likely because of the many turf battles.
