Mats Zuccarello was very involved when the New York Rangers overran the New Jersey Devils and won 6-1 Saturday night.
North man opened the show at Madison Square Garden when he fired a hard shot towards the goal, whereupon the puck was barely touched the stick to Rick Nash before it flew into the goal. Zuccarello had to settle for an assist, his 34th of the season, Nash scored his 42 goals in this year because games.
Rangers did not give up and scored two quick goals to the Devils that for the third year row has failed to qualify for the playoffs. Zuccarello and his teammates went to the first rest with a very comfortable 3-0 lead, also thanks to a brilliant Henrik Lundqvist Rangers cage.
– Lundqvist looks like himself, he speaks as before and acting normally, and there is clearly good for us. He tries to get back focus as quickly as possible, and had some brilliant saves both outnumbered and in game five against five, says Ryan McDonagh.

Devils were at times with the notes but failed to outwit the Swede who played his third game after a lengthy injury break before they got a consolation goal just before full time. Efficient was Derek Stepan gave the hosts 4-0 two seconds before the second break after a counterattack outnumbered.
– I think if you ask him, he will probably say that he wants to get better, but he has seen proper sharp out the last two games, said Stepan about the team Swedish last stronghold.

Thursday won the New York Rangers Metropolitan division when the Minnesota Wild was beaten 3-2. Saturday’s victory was the 50th this season, something the club has only managed three times previously.
– 50 victories only shows that we have done much good. We set the bar high for the year. We would come back and fight for the Stanley Cup again, and the first step on the way there is the basic game. The major challenge lies ahead, says Lundqvist.
– This explains a lot about the team and the way these guys work on every single night. It’s winning culture in the locker room, and the guys are really proud of what we are getting into. It’s fun to go out on the ice, says new signing Keith Yandle.
The club now has 107 points with four games remaining before the playoffs start, and looks to be heading for victory also østkonferansen.
