Doping Test around the clock, but by all means avoid anyone being revealed – Aftenposten

COMMENT: The growing anti-doping work is well and totally necessary. But what’s the point when the hunt for cheaters too often only proves to be for decoration?

Test

Test around the clock, but by all means avoid anyone being revealed …

Has this been the logic of the international athletics in recent years? The last day revelations strengthens the suspicion that we are probably closer to the truth than we like to believe.

Therefore it will now continue a fierce battle behind the scenes toward Athletics Championships, which begin in Beijing on August 22. Three days earlier, a new president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) selected.

Presidential candidates Sergey Bubka and Sebastian Coe will be forced to chart a new course in order to get rid of doping evil. Therefore much evidence that the old spelling giant from Ukraine or medium legend from England will be much more important outside than what they were in the arena.

Money, money, money

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has repeatedly threatened to push the sport out of the Summer Olympics.

Did not the sport right from the top down powerful grip in the race to get a cleaner sport, would the Olympic flame will not be lit for Chris Froome and the rest of the bike small.

Now that suspicious floodlight directed at the biggest Olympic sport of them all, athletes, it’s quiet from IOC. Strangely still.

And it illustrates some of the core issue: Money reigns.

IOC could probably well have prospered without bicycle under Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next summer. Cycling is big and popular but has a dirty slate. Therefore cycling easily have been sacrificed to set an example.

But the Olympics without the 100-meter final with Usain Bolt and other superstars? An Olympic without marathon, high jump, pole vault? An Olympic without nine-day celebration with the world’s oldest sports?

No, it would not have been for IOC.

Then we had for large sums of money lost. The great sports party had not been so festive anyway and Olympics would not be the same.

Cheating, cheating, cheating

The last day allegations of abnormal blood tests in all World Cup and Olympic Games from 2001, makes athletics spikes have a lot to answer for forward IAAF shall have its congress in Beijing in the days before this year’s athletics World Championships.

Within the fun starts in the Bird’s Nest, the giant Olympic arena from 2008, the new president is elected. Well it is.

when the 82 year old Lamine Diack of Senegal lends itself after 16 years chief, it is not just the end of a period of extremely high doping and even more fierce accusations of cheating. It will also be the start of a new era. A time where new costs finally coming in to clean.

Instead of being worried and take medieavsløringene seriously, has Diack paragraph of allegations from the German TV channel ARD and the British newspaper Sunday Times.

The media believes to know that a third of the 12,000 samples taken by 5,000 practitioners are suspicious.

Put a little more tabloid way: At every podium saw average stood one doped performer. Without that they have been revealed.

Is this quite deliberately been silent in death to protect some of athletics best men and women?

Does not athletics doping problem seriously?

Almost 300 banned

Today there are 289 athletes around the world who are banned for violating anti-doping regulations. The whole 48 of them are Russians. In that sense one can say that athletes have taken steps to stop the deception.

But the question is how many people still have escaped. And this is where the new direction comes in. When it is 800 questionable samples on the table to IAAF without it being taken action, it stinks.

Should there be any point in doping test athletes anywhere and anytime, there must also be a system which pushes the next hurdle. What makes those who choose to take the shortcut to success is stopped and excluded ..

smear campaign – of course

77 of the 800 samples of runners from Kenya, the nation that dominates the longest distances. ARD images of needles inserted into the arms of Kenyan runners shaking now the whole world of sport.

The response from the Kenyan Association of Athletics Federations? This is a smear campaign to destroy our preparation towards the World Cup.

The Kenyan reaction is completely normal tactics when someone is forced into a corner by doping accusations. The same is Gapskratt from the outgoing IAAF president.

The next days and weeks will tell whether it is hold in the claims or whether this only gets new shoot blanks which ends in exactly zero.

Or if the whole big scandal in line with Armstrong-deception are revealed.

Whatever the outcome will probably many of Athletics the stars have to live with the suspicion.
