Russia investigates allegations of widespread doping – NRK

Now the claims of the German TV channel ARD and newspaper Sunday Times thoroughly examined by the Russian athletics leaders. It was a whistleblower on the inside of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) that delivered the results of 12,000 doping tests given by 5,000 athletes to the two media. Many of the samples were dubious and suspicious.

In particular, Russian and Kenyan athletes been designated as sinners with the new scandal case that appeared just three weeks before the World Championships in Beijing.

The report that has been restored by the Sunday Times and ARD, it is claimed that 80 percent of Russian medal winners from the major international championships in the period from 2001 to 2012 has made abnormal and very suspicious doping tests.

Refusal

Yekaterina Poistogova, bronze winner at 800 meters for women in the London Olympics, is one of those who are named in connection with the suspicious discoveries. It is alleged that she is one of the worst cheaters, but even she refuses to have done something wrong.

– I have not seen the documentary, and I have no thoughts about doing it, says Poistogova According to news agency R-Sport. She adds that she will be doping tested periodically, and therefore she sees no point in proving something again.

– This case was known before Diamond League meeting in Stockholm. I was summoned to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and I met to give evidence, she said.

– I have nothing to hide and has done nothing wrong. Therefore I do not believe anything of what is being claimed in the documentary. Everything is a lie, says the Russian middle distance runner.

Serious worried

In a statement released by the Russian Association of Athletics Federations says that management is seriously concerned by the allegations that have been made . Sunday began efforts to thoroughly review the material available.

– Connected carefully review the documentary film and the material we have access to. We are very concerned about the allegations that have been made and go through procedures in anti-doping work together with the IAAF and the European Association of Athletics Federations (EA), it is further stated in the press release from the Russian Federation.

– I have no belief that what emerges in this documentary based on facts. It is produced material, believes Vadim Zelitsjenok in the Russian Federation. He adds that to claim that up to 80 percent of middle and long distance runners in Russia is doped not have any basis in reality the world.

– Nothing of what is alleged is proved. If there had been something in this, could not IAAF have sat on this material in up to ten years, says Zelitsjenok.
