Finally Wengen win for Aksel Lund Svindal: – He is so crude a day – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): – There is no longer any doubt. He is the best Norwegian runner in the World Cup, said NRK commentator Andreas Toft after Aksel Lund Svindal fantastic drive in today’s downhill event in Wengen.

Two years ago Klaus Kroell finished second in the trail, and after having put out that number four today, nobody came near him before Aksel Lund Svindal put off as number 18.

Svindal was 0.39 seconds ahead at the first measurement, and only continued to increase. When he finally crossed the finish line, he took over first place to Kroell and increased by a massive 1.52 seconds.

– He’s in a class of their own. He’s so raw a day that it’s crazy, said NRK commentators after the Norwegian’s races.

Svindal has never won in Wengen and Kitzbuhel, and a victory today hangs enough high for Norwegian who was harmed most of last season.

Hannes Reichelt ran after Svindal and had occasionally much better speed than the Norwegian. But after the last part of the course as one that Reichelt struggled to cope with Svindal fantastic races.

Weather destroyed

After a while stay in the race due to fog, got Jansrud finally put off – in some more fog on top than it Svindal put off with.

At first measurement was Jansrud 0.22 behind, and never managed to approach Svindal time. Today’s stop because of the weather conditions may have guilt in Jansrud downturn, but he was far from alone.

The remaining skiers struggled throughout the first half, and probably no one will be able to take in sovereign Svindal, who then can rejoice over a new downhill victory – his first in Wengen.

– He is sovereign. No one can take back axle now, said NRK commentators.

Jansrud came in twelfth place, 2.13 seconds behind his countryman.

Kidding for rennet

As usual could trail in Wengen offer speed and

excitement. Today, maybe a little more than desired. For Aksel Lund Svindal was obvious in the lead, but the weather could put a stop to Svindal first World Cup victory in Wengen.

For a gutter to be regarded as completed, it is required that 30 athletes have gone downhill. Time it seemed to joke for Svindal location, but finally came the necessary 30 through.

In the morning there slalom waiting for Henrik Kristoffersen.
