Sports president disclose travel expenses – NRK

– I have nothing to hide, he said.

– We take this very seriously. I’m going to submit my travel expenses from the day I was idrettspresident.

Tvedt has raised a total of 238.819 million since Sports Parliament in Trondheim where he was chosen as idrettspresident last June .

Also the Norwegian Sports General Inge Andersen disclose their travel expenses.

Hofstad Helleland had Monday summoned Norwegian sports leaders new meeting on transparency in sport.

Helleland was not satisfied with the answers athlete peaks gave her at a previous meeting and it was therefore summoned to new calls.

A stressed idrettspresident Tom Tvedt was running late and was therefore only a brief statement to the press before the meeting.

New range

After the meeting, he made the following statement to the press:

– We have put forward new measures for culture minister. We put forward a broad commission to examine the openness in sport, he said.



This committee shall consider:

  • Consider whether the sport’s control procedures are adequate, transparent and trustworthy to ensure that resources are used in accordance with current economic policies and the objective of prudent and responsible use of resources.
  • The committee requested specifically assess whether the current control is appropriate in order to identify and report discrepancies and possible abuse or irresponsible use of resources in the businesses or the exercise of work or assignments within these.
  • How sport which organization should practice openness about its own activities, including financial transactions given the current laws and regulations and that the sport receives public funds.
  • if the basis of other comparable NGOs is another practice related to disclosure of financial information and thereby assess whether there is reason to change the sport’s status related to the Freedom of Information Act, including the right to third party access.

the committee will be headed by John G. Bernander. The names of the other members of the committee will publicly during the day.

– to go ahead as idrettspresident I come together with the Secretary-general to publish my travel expenses during the day, said President and to the press corps after Monday’s meeting.

– We have come into a situation where they say that there is no confidence in the Norwegian sports. It is something we take very seriously. My goal for Norwegian sport is that there should be full transparency, explained Tvedt, who are prepared to criticism when the bills be made public.

– Yes I am prepared to criticism. But if it gives rise to criticism, I have nothing to hide. I’ll explain everything.



Helleland not satisfied

Culture Linda Hofstad Helleland is still not satisfied with the answers she received from sports spikes in Monday’s meeting about transparency.

She announces that it will be done a job in the ministry before sports president and his staff will get a new feedback.

– We’ll work on this throughout the day and night and going feedback for the NIF in the course of tomorrow, says Hofstad Helleland said.

She recognizes that Confederation presented some measures to give transparency a needed boost, but that this was not sufficient to reassure her.

NIF came with some initiative in the meeting, but the current situation I have to consider further measures, says culture minister.

Do not subject to FOIA

the reason for the meeting is the debate that came after VG prolonged highlighted the lack of transparency around finances and bills in sports Norway.

NIF gets 87 percent of revenue its from the public, but since associated not subject to FOIA, the possibilities of access is very limited.
