Ferdinand receives support statements from the world after his wife’s demise – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): QPR player Rio Ferdinand is in deep grief after his wife, Rebecca Ellison, died of cancer last night.

Ellison passed away last night after receiving cancer treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

– My soulmate

– My soulmate passed away last night. Rebecca, my wonderful wife passed away after a brief battle with cancer, writes former England captain Ferdinand said in a statement on QPRs website.

After the demise became known this morning, the former Manchester United player received a lot of support from a whole football world of social media.

Both clubs, players and others send their condolences through including Twitter.

– Total grief

Ferdinand himself writes in press release that he hopes that the family will now be allowed to deal with grief in peace.

– I also want to show my appreciation for their efforts and cunning to the staff, led by Professors Johnstone and Clarke, at the Royal Marsden. Their strong effort to extend Rebecca too short life will not be forgotten. Our grief, as a family, is total. We would appreciate it if we could be allowed to grieve in peace, writes Ferdinand.

Ellison and Ferdinand were married in 2009, when Ferdinand was still playing for Manchester United.
