Åge Hareide is finished in Malmo: – I do not really leave the club – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Åge Hareide (62) is finished as a coach in the Swedish Malmo. It confirms the club itself in a press release this morning.

– I thank the team for two wonderful years. Thanks to players, officials and all employees. Thanks for the support from the fans. It has been a wonderful time, said Hareide.

The Norwegian led Malmo to league title last year and has had success with two straight seasons in the Champions League.

Ga message

According to the team, it Hareide himself who wanted to get off.

– I have been told by Aage that he is going to train us next year. We have had indications of this lately, so we are in a process of bringing a new head coach, says sports director Daniel Andersson.

The Norwegian coach has been linked to the job as Danish coach the past month.

In an interview with Sydsvenskan says Hareide that he really did not want to leave the club.

– I do not really travel from Malmo. Had I been younger, I had enough longer. It is about building the team – winning Allsvenskan every year and establishing itself in Europe again in 2017, said Hareide in the fresh interview.

He has his last workout with the team today. Tomorrow it’s friendly against Molde. Champions League match against Real Madrid will Hareide last.

New Job?

Danish media have reported that it was only a matter of time before Hareide is presented as the national team’s new leader.

– I have observed that the Danish Football Association and Hareide has only formal thing left to discuss and that the contract is signed one of the coming days, said Danish TV2 football commentator Flemming Toft two weeks ago.

As coach Hareide has visited clubs in other countries – and he is not unfamiliar with Danish football. Hari has coached Molde, Helsingborg (Sweden), Brondby (Denmark), Rosenborg, Örgryte (Sweden), Viking and Malmo FF.

This season ended Malmo fifth in Allsvenskan.

Åge Hareide has not answered Dagbladet inquiries Wednesday morning.

Dagbladet expands case.
