Super Talent Casper Ruud (17) to the final in Spain – Sunnmørsposten

The 17 year old tennis talent won with crushing 6-1, 6-1 over toppseedede Kamil Majchrzak in the semifinals in a Futures tournament in Spain.

The opponent is inside among the top 300 in the world rankings, but he had little to line up against the Norwegian 17-year-old great talent Friday.

– it was maybe a little bit easier than I expected. I had no expectations of winning, says Ruud to Budstikka.

Earlier this tournament Ruud turned the Spanish trio Marcos Giraldi, Albert Alcaraz and Mario Vilella. Alcaraz was 5th seed in the tournament.

Opposition in Saturday’s finale is Spanish Carlos Taberner, Ruud played against several times before. The two have also trained together.

– On paper it’s an easier game than today, but he is good. So it is only to prepare for a new tough battle, says Ruud.

Bærum boy has participated in two other Futures tournaments in Spain in the past, but smoke when out in the first round. After its strong efforts in Paguera release his qualification to the next tournament in Murcia next week.

Ruud went at the turn to the top of the world rankings for juniors.

PS! 17-year-old has already secured 10 ATP points and will thus climb the world rankings. He wins the finals Saturday, he gets with his 18 ATP points.
