Tor Arne Hetland become Norway’s new national coach – Adresseavisen

Tor Arne Hetland is appointed national coach in cross country.

– We have had talks with Tor-Arne awhile considering a replacement for Steinar Mundal. He has accumulated much experience abroad with good results. He is ambitious, and plan in the long term is perhaps that he will take over as head coach for allround made when Trond withdraws, says coach Vidar Løfshus said.

41-year-old retired from active skier after the 2009 season. During his career he won three World Championship gold medals and one Olympic gold. He also secured five championship gold between 2000 and 2008.

The last few seasons have been Hetland coach in Germany, Switzerland and Canada. The locals have education that diploma trainer from Switzerland. This corresponds topptrener study in Norway.

– I mean I have gained enough experience internationally to come home to Norway. Now I’m ready for my biggest coach challenge, says Hetland.



Experience

Løfshus is clear on what qualities Hetland can take with them into the Norwegian cross-country environment.

– First and foremost, we are curious his experience from Germany, Switzerland and Canada. You know the Tor-Arne like the athlete he is and the accomplishments he has delivered. He has attention to detail and carefully. He has absolutely nothing to add, not least considering that he will be a contender role Trond, he said.



To Trondheim

According to the chief will Hetland move to Trondheim early fall.

– It is something we have called for a long time. We have many runners based in Trondheim, and Tor-Arne where it becomes easier to follow up these from day to day.
