Brazilian football legend will be new FIFA president – TV 2

Blatter shook an entire football world when he Tuesday announced that he would retire in the wake of the major corruption investigation surrounding the International Football Federation.

62-year-old Zico, who participated in three World Championships in the 1970s and 1980s, has decades of combined experience from different levels of the sport. Moreover, he was Brazilian sports minister for a brief period in the 1990s.

American dig journalist claims Qatar’s World Cup committee tremble.

– Why not ?, asks Zico in a Facebook post from Berlin, where he is to attend Saturday’s Champions League final between Barcelona and Juventus.

– My life has always been in football. It’s a passion I serve with seriousness and respect, both in Brazil and other countries. I was sports minister, I have experience from club level and from helping Kashima in Japan. I put football over politics, he continues.

Zico adds that he has not yet collected support to run for president, but that he will see how the idea develops. (© NTB)
