Before last day manager Paul Dunne is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world. Cash prize of 15 million, he can however see far behind.
Irish Paul Dunne was the best amateur who managed cuten in this year’s The Open at St. Andrews in Scotland. Before last day he leads the tournament. Twelve strokes under par is gold standard for the Irish amateur player. Along with Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day, he shares the lead.
After the first two days was 22-year-old with six strokes under par. Sunday, he played up further from the impressive tenth place he started Sunday with. The last time The Open was won by an amateur was when Bobby Jones won in 1930. He went home without prize money.

The same Paul Dunne had to do today. Amateur status prevents him from receiving other prizes than flowers and a trophy to mark the victory. Thus, Dunne anyway not get your hands on the record win total of 1.15 million pounds (just under 15 million Norwegian kroner).

Just the second time in the tournament’s history being the Major closed on a Monday. Powerful gusts and rain Friday and Saturday ensured that second round was completed an entire day too late: Saturday evening instead of Friday evening.
The superstar Jordan Spieth is also in contention for victory. He hopes to write about the history books. No one has ever won all four majors in the same season. Spieth has won the first two. Fourth and eleven under par is American very well placed before the last day.
Tiger Woods has managed to be the defending champion in all four majors at the same time, but they were not recorded in the same calendar year.
