- Concerned that people are sick of hearing me complain – Aftenposten

Julie Strømsvåg unable to sleep the night before the Denmark game. She and Randi Gustad thinking EM whole day.

DEBRECEN (Aftenposten): Wednesday night woke Julie Strømsvåg after one hour of sleep. Not because Canalside Debrecen is poor. Just because thoughts swirling around what would happen next evening. EM evening from Hungary with handball ‘El Clasico’. She had to be with the schedule and continue planning. At five in the morning she could finally fall asleep.

– There are brain activity 24 hours a day, all week. We eat and live handball, she says Friday afternoon. Norway has spillefri but 2 TV viewers will still have baseball fabric. Now day’s work session is done, she has put itself in a sofa in the lobby of the Hotel Divinius with Randi Gustad. A plastic tree is decorated for Christmas, but the big Christmas spirit is well strictly speaking.

The duo realize, however, that they have become part of a permanent Advent tradition in Norway.

– It is fantastic that handball captivates so. We see it year after year, says Gustad, who ten years ago was with and won the European Championship gold just in Hungary. The first championship match she played on the parquet a few meters from the platform where she and Strømsvåg conveys handball drama home to the Norwegian viewers. The time was many uncertain level of the Norwegian squad. It is the year too. Last year’s World Cup ended in the quarterfinals.

– They did not medal last year, still captivates it just as much, and over a million watching, says Gustad.

– It is absolutely koko, laughing Strømsvåg before she adds that she really understands it very well. They had sat and looked at though they were at home in Norway.

Should help viewers

It is the fourth consecutive year that “the blaude consonant” her sets handball championship in perspective just before Christmas. EM two years there Viasat to send. She is happy there is TV 2 still to send the world championships. What is Advent without handball? Next year the purple lights come in Denmark.

– I put most emphasis on entertainment snippet dissemination. We should make it clear and comprehensible what is important in every game, every game has something unique, says Strømsvåg.

Lawyers and handball expert

Gustad studied law and began working as lawyer already while she ran with top handball. Lately she has also begun to speak as legal expert for TV 2 Sporten, including Petter Northug- and Jim Solbakken case.

– There are quite a few times that law borders on what has to do with sport. It is law that is my profession, but I have worked longest handball on television. It is very interesting and rewarding to work with the issues that are intersections between my field. It’s nice to be able to take a step back and look at the perspectives that exist. It has often been wanting to do as a lawyer, but then you have to constantly keep you on the side of your client, she says.

The accident that almost stopped his career

Strømsvåg was TV career millimeters to end during a work accident in 2009. A promo film for the channel sports broadcasts were recorded and it went very wrong . According to doctors, it was tiny margin separated her from getting lamb. Back injury she comes perhaps to carry throughout life.

The accident and injury has gotten much media coverage. In a portrait interview in Dagbladet summer she wondered whether she always came to “be she who harmed their backs.”

– I have really understand that people ask about it, I’m the journalist himself, and there is no problem that is mentioned and written about it. I knew only one concern that people will be sick of hearing about it. “Can not she stop complaining about it,” I have thought that people think.

One of the bosses her have stated that the best decision he has taken is to hire her.

Although she looks not for something else to pursue. Maybe not so strange. Olympic Games, European and World Championships in football and handball. Tour de France. For many, it sounds like a pretty decent job.

– I can not imagine anything better place to be than where I am now. This is what I will do, says Strømsvåg.
