On a sports gala was Guri Hetland Sunday named year coach in Switzerland.

“Sports Awards” is a prize-giving show where sport profiles from the past year in Switzerland ranked. Galas official Twitter account to congratulate Hetland with victory pageant Sunday night.

Hetland was nominated along with the Swiss national football team boss Ottmar Hitzfeld, who has previously coached the big German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. The last nominee Flavio Zberg coach EM winner of 400 m hurdles Kareem Hussein.

Broke with Switzerland in the year

Hetland was up until last season sports director for the Swiss cross-country team, and sat with the sporting responsibility for Dario Cologna. Cologna went tol two gold in the Olympic Games in Sochi. It happened after the season was in danger after an injury just before the start of the season.

After the season was made castling in the Swiss support system. Hetland contract expired in April and after numerous rounds of negotiations not extended.

– Negotiations with Guri Hetland has ended in disaster. We have not managed to integrate her in the new coaching team sia Markus Wolf in the Swiss Ski Federation to Neue Zürcher Zeitung in May.

Ivan Hudac had been brought in as Cologne coach, and it was clear that Hetland role would be changed. According Wolf in the Swiss Ski Federation had not Hetland “heart and soul” of the new solution was proposed.

– I want to thank Kathy for cooperation over the past four years. We have had many ups, said Cologna since cooperation was broken.

Hetland moved in ours back to Trondheim from Davos.

Leader Trondheim VM application

Later this year Hetland appointed head of Trondheim application to host the tournament in Trondheim in 2021. The first part will be delivered by 1 May 2015. The decision falls on the FIS Conference in Cancun in Mexico in June 2016.

– Skiing is extremely strong in Trøndelag, and a VM will provide motivation for young performers in the region. The planned construction developments in Granåsen is important for the whole sporting community in the city. And not least, a VM could provide a boost for the entire region’s business, tourism and culture, has Hetland said about a WSC in Trondheim.

Guri Hetland also has experience as Technical Delegate of the FIS, and have a manager role for cross-country queen Marit Bjoergen.
