Davos / Oslo (TV2 Sport) : New woman races, new Norwegian dominance.
The Norwegian girls continued their close perfect start to the season in Davos Saturday and took double victory at 10 km classic.
Best of all was Therese Johaug.
– Skis mine is sacred
26-year-old was in a class of its own and led from the first intermediate to finish. Marit Bjoergen had for once find themselves being outclassed, and got to the finish as 42 seconds behind teammate.
Victory is Johaug second in the World Cup so far this season and her ninth overall.
– It is very good to be able to prove to myself that there are no coincidences that I go fast in single race. Now I have proved that it is this level I’ve ever – I showed it Beitostølen, Kuusamo, Lillehammer and now here. It shows that I have taken a big step Classic this year and that the technique is good. I’ve had crazy good skiing in all races, and the pair I go on is holy, she says to TV 2.
– Is it possible to win a ten mile with one minute?
– I seems an edge over 42 seconds is madly much, and that’s what I used to be behind before, and I think the technique is good about the day. It is actually in the light parties I take seconds Marit both palms downwards, and is very fun to watch.
– Marit is still very strong
Bjoergen and Johaug has for years ravaged international woman cross country skiing, but the latter has in years that she is about to step out of her teammates big shadow.
Although she will not, however, assert that hegemony is beginning to turn.
– Is the era of Bjoergen front Johaug over?
– No, absolutely not. Mary is still very strong. I may have taken a major step in classical than in skating for years, and therefore we are perhaps more uniform good at skating Inga. It will be interesting to look at 10 km freestyle next weekend.
– It is good there are some younger up
Bjoergen seldom outclassed as she was on Saturday and could not do anything but take off the famous hat finish.
– It is just taking off his hat and congratulate Therese. It is very strongly what she does. I see she takes seconds at me from the top down, and when she does it she is difficult to cope with. She is in a very good flow and goes incredibly good technically. So it is, says Bjoergen TV 2.
– What your own flow then?
– I am really very happy with the race. It is clear that the distances are very big up but we hope I can do something with it during the winter.
– You have been queen for many years now. Feeling that she begins to tear hold of you now?
– It is good that there are some younger up, is not it?
Finnish Kerttu Niskanen took third place, while the Swedish girls Anna Haag and Sofia Bleckur took respectively the fourth – and fifth.
Heidi Weng fell and got a bad imaginable start to the race and had to settle for sixth place – almost a half minute behind Johaug.
