THERE WAS NO party that was canceled in Oslo’s streets because Croatia did the job against Bulgaria. The Norwegian appetite, which has grown ever larger, was rather sharpened. And will we ever beat Italy in a qualifying match away Tuesday 13 October is the perfect time to do it.
First and foremost because Italy already EM clear.
Secondly, because the Italian national per 2015 probably is the most slåbare this great football nation has had in decades.
On top of these two plus factors are Norway during the three games and five weeks become a competitive football team. And a team to believe in. I’m not saying that 2-0 victory over Malta was phenomenal, a team that is so bad, we will of course make every day, but the way it happened was at least consistently professional and in the neighborhood very good craftsmanship. For had it not been for Even Hovland little drip when he loses the ball in his own half after 44 minutes – a concentration failure that could quickly given goal and poengtap for a nervous, pressed and non-believers layers – could Norway played this match with anyone the goal.
And it says at least more about us than them.
NORWAY HAS STOPPED conceding a goal. Against Malta, which also is no yardstick when international Playoffs is the goal, we released not till posts either. But all these positive factors, no matter who they come against, gives good experiences and even better feelings.
Was Norway in a good place before kickoff against Malta is made on an even better place now.
There is no need to fix something that works. For that reason, did not fall coaching staff to the temptation to make changes to the team that beat Bulgaria and Croatia over to replace spinal injured Tom Høgmo with Haitem Aleesami at left-back. And he got paid for through several offensive eye-opening experiences.
Where especially the right side of Omar Elabdellaoui and Per Ciljan Skjelbred was shining the brief hour they got to play together.
Markus Henriksen VAR shining through 90 minutes and during the last three countries fighting made space behind the tip of his. As a kind of a carrier of good movement and ditto good involvements are very much good where Markus Henriksen at any time located. For it is not just that Markus Henriksen is good in the role he will fill that Markus Henriksen – it behind, around, beside and preferably in front of the tip when the opportunity presents itself – he makes his teammates good too.
And primarily Alexander Søderlund.
Which means that we are also in the process of developing a spisspar to believe in.
BEFORE MALTA HAD Alexander Søderlund played 21 caps without a goal. 2-0 goal after 52 minutes took the virtue of measured desert. And nothing was more deserving of Ullevaal Stadium this evening than that hardworking, swell honest and always posisive Alexander Søderlund did nudge the ball over the line.
One goal after 22 matches can now fast becoming two after 23.
I’m not saying we win at the Olympic Stadium in the Italian capital on Tuesday night. Play off over two games in November remains the most likely end at Norway’s European Championship qualifiers. But there is no in and around the Norwegian team who does not believe that it is entirely possible to do so.
And it’s not just something they say.
There is something everybody thinks .
