- Norwegian handball will be poorer without her – Fædrelandsvennen

How shelves handball profiles shelves Leganger.

She was just awesome to play with, she was awful to play against . Leganger is perhaps the greatest goalkeeper on the women’s side.

The memories and moments are many, and few will forget the mind-boggling eight strafferedningene she had against Ukraine in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 1999.

Leganger continues: – Enough is enough

Best ever handball goalkeeper Leganger breaks the contract with Larvik and adds up.

We talked to a bunch of baseball personalities, to hear what they have to say about baseball star who now continues.

Frode Kyvåg:

– It is not easy to describe in words what she has meant to Norwegian handball. Here we are talking about one of the best ever, not just goalies but baseball players in history. I have had the pleasure of working with her own, and she was special in so many ways. With their baseball skills she could scare anyone, but that person was she who reinforced the environment – a motivator. She was complete.

– You sound a little wistfully out?

– Yes, I was not aware that she was give up until this morning – and it created strong sadness. Norwegian handball will be poorer without her. I’ve put really appreciate to work with her. With her back, I was almost certain victory, regardless of opponent. She also had a great mood, an honesty and humility. So many social skills she was best at. She was the first to visit the injured teammates, and the first to offer other assistance for homework. She and Anja Andersen, it was empathy that.

Kjersti:

– She was wonderful to play with. It is clear that when she rescues eight penalties in one Superbowl, so you feel the that you have won the lottery when you have a teammate like that. We have excellent goalkeeping tradition in Norway, and there have been many good – both before and after her. But Cecilie was extreme. She was ahead of its time, one of the best – if not, she was the best.

– What was she like teammate?

– She was funny, and the funny thing with her was that she was a little involuntary fun sometimes too. It was a bit like kinder egg.

Frode Scheie:

– There is no doubt that she meant a lot to Norwegian handball. I think probably she’s the best goalkeeper on the women’s side through the ages. There came a whole new dimension with her goalkeeping. She was a bit boyish style. Aggressive and tough, somewhat atypical for girls to be. She had an amazing responsiveness and location capability, and a huge ball contact – it constantly see the ball. She has delivered great performances in goal that will be remembered forever. First and foremost, I remember her seven penalty saves in a single game during the World Cup in 1999, but she has many moments. She had a knack for being able to shut the cage completely.

– Was she feared keeper?

– Yes, it is clear she was. I would think she had much free. When one is as good as her, then respect then, so it is to be the top goalkeeper – you get the respect you deserve.

– Cecilie could probably had an even greater stardom if she had not given up on team. But she became world champion with Norway, and it is huge. In addition, she has enormous merits in Slagelse, and later also with Larvik. She has played for the biggest clubs in the world.

Harald Bredeli:

– Leganger has written himself into history as one of the greatest. She broke through in 1993 and has remained in the world until 2014 her status as the world’s best female goalkeeper was perhaps only at the end of her career equaled by Katrine Lunde.

– Is she the best ever?

– There are others with more titles, but clearly: Having been at the very top among goalkeepers in as many years, it is outstanding. She is internationally recognized as one of the largest, if not the greatest goalkeepers of all time. Foreigners have the same as us. When Anja Andersen was building his empire in Slagelse, Cecilie such foundation stone edifice her.
