Saved EVERTON: Captain Phil Jagielka got his dream match in overtime. – Aftenbladet.no

It appeared that Steven Gerrard would be the hero, but then appeared Everton captain Jagielka up.

took time before it hit the derby between Liverpool and Everton. After last year’s fast-paced games where we were served ten goals in two games, so this year seems to be a total contrast.

But thankfully captains responsibility for both teams.

After 65 minutes Asked Gerrard up on 20 meters and hammered the ball behind Howard.

– You get a feeling for certain areas when you are awarded a free kick. I had a good feeling and got good results, said Gerrard free-kick on target.

The scoring so long to hold a long-awaited victory for the home team. But Jagielka decided otherwise. For overtime hammered his shot into the corner behind Mignolet with a dream hits without equal.

– Hopefully we can get more next time we play at Anfield, but one point is not so bad. It has been a frustrating season so far this year. Going 1-0 is heavy, but we continued to show great effort and determination. We must continue to play the same way. We must have the courage to do the right things. This will hopefully kick start the season, for our part, the captain said after the game.

Howard rescued Everton

Liverpool was the leading team in the first round. Everton were still on their visits inside the Liverpool penalty area.

But it was the home side that offered the greatest chances.

The first and greatest opportunity came after eleven minutes. After a corner from Gerrard Lallana went into the air and headed the ball down the corner. Fortunately for the visitors was Howard with the notes and made an excellent save.

Sterling-chance

In the remaining half would be almost too much both teams. Liverpool came often good post position, but the precision was often badly that it was closing on goal.

Just before the whistle blew for the break got Sterling a good opportunity to send red Royen at halftime with the lead. The ending alone with Howard from an angle was still too weak.

Gerrard took responsibility

The second half started as the first ended. Liverpool had a lot of possession, but struggled to get to the big chances.

After 64 minutes it still had not second half given us some chances. The fight really needed a goal.

And there we were. After 65 minutes Asked captain Gerrard up of around 20 meters. Several other Liverpool players wanted to take the kick, but the captain took charge.

The shot went over the wall and crossed. Howard was after the ball, but his shot was too hard and well placed that he could stop Liverpool taking the lead.

Balotelli hit the crossbar

Only two minutes after the goal to Gerrard Balotelli close to double management. Inside the box he shot on the half volley, but the ball went over the crossbar and over.

– Balotelli should have scored. There was a touch on his shot, but I think he will think that he should have scored there. He had some exceptional touches in the game, said Liverpool coach Rogers on Balotelli after the game.

But then the fight into a little more daff period. Everton had little to come by after scoring. Samuel Eto`o came partly after 80 minutes, but he failed to make any difference.

Jagielka-hurtling

But out of nowhere appeared Jagielka up. The captain who does not have the habit to score with shots from 25 meters, suddenly dream hits. From 25 feet riveted he added. The ball flew into the corner behind Mignolet, which saved the point for Everton.

– player was brilliant. We were clearly the better team on the pitch, but sometimes not what you deserve in football. Had it not been for a lucky chance in overtime, we had received three points, Rodgers said after the game.
