Smith – A delicious revenge! – Aftenposten

No Oilers players were better in Bern than Ruben Smith.

Bern Oilers 0-2

With mom and dad in the stands, played great Ruben Smith and stopped what came of pucks in the PostFinance Arena. A delightful way to turn back to the keeper, who, like the rest of the team has not played up to their best league start.

– A delicious revenge, says the main character with a big smile

After the morning workout talking Aftonbladet long Oilers goalies. Statistically, both Ruben Smith and Henrik Holm played far better in the past, but both felt performance in the opening match had been better than the purely numerical. Towards Bern Smith showed great skill on the fly.

You could see it from the first minute. Quiet movements, effective in the movement and constantly active in communicating with backs. It began gradually changed in a number of impressive saves, especially in the first and third period. Smith saw the puck and got a few rebounds. Finally he could get off the ice by 100 percent in the statistics and a big smile on his face.

– I take a zero in Bern. I do, therefore, said Oilers goalkeeper laughing right after the match.

– I have not really had a good feeling all the time. Actually, it’s just struggle against Sparta that I’ve been unhappy with. But hockey is sometimes like that. It’s about having a little flow well – and in this fight, I got very good help from the players in front of me. I do not know how many shots we blocked, but there were many.

– How is it possible to struggle against M / S on Thursday, and then turn Bern away from home just five days later?

– It is much easier to defend than to try and create. We pulled down the pace and played disciplined from the start. A bit like the M / S did to us in the DNB Arena, explains Smith.

He is not, however, plenty of time to enjoy the victory over Bern. Very early Wednesday morning putting the Oilers on the bus with direction Zurich. From there, the trip back to Stavanger and the fight against league leader asterisk Thursday night.

– I thought it was a robber story if you told me we’d be in this position until the last match of the group stage. Now we can actually go further in the Champions League. It is fantastic to be part of this. Now I just hope we are shifting gear and show quality in their domestic league, says Oilers president Paul Higson.
