– For the first time in club history that we are among the 16 best teams in Europe. We will continue to fight in front of this audience we have at home, and I hope we go any further, says Storhamar trainer Aleksander Smirnov considering 8 Round about a month against Finnish TPS Turku.

– We have won five of six games in the Champions Hockey League. There you have the setting to “boys” been on top. Self-esteem too. We’ve got enough confidence in CHL, adds the headstrong Russian.

Hamar club had victory 3-1 by Austria two weeks ago to go on.

Utilized penalties

Tomålstap would mean 10 minutes of extra time, first goal wins.

Penalty Shot Competition if aimlessly in sudden death (play extension).

Tremålstap: their heads out of the Champions League in 16 final on, not Finnish TPS Turku (6-3 on aggregate over JYP Jyvaskyla) in 8-final.

Hockey Blog before kick-off: Storhamar poor in Get-league

– We are playing with a completely different glow in the Champions Hockey League. We have won the last five games and is among the 16 best teams in Europe, outside of Russia (not included in the CHL). It is a feat, if you ask me, says Pål Johnsen (39) to VG.

Storhamar legend, nicknamed Magic, retired after last season. Now he Aleksander Smirnovs assistant coach.

– All is good, all is ‘on’. But I’ll highlight some, it must be Hesbråten, Skadsdammen and Rønnild in the 3rd row. They have been good both in the Get-league and the Champions Hockey League, says Johnsen.

– We just wars. It’s absolutely amazing, he says the whole Storhamar considering CHL success.

Storhamar started brightly in front of 4281 spectators in Hamar Olympic Amphitheatre. It was Salzburg who had to score goals. But homemade seems to want it most. Not least because the guests appeared undisciplined and incurred penalties.

After 10:39 minutes – with Matthias Trattning expelled – scored Storhamars Swedish defender Jimmy Andersson’s cross from the Swedish Jacob Berglund, the hideout play five against four .

Storhamar: Self

A scant minute later was Joakim Jensen close by entering 2-0 behind Luka Gracnar in Salzburg goal. A goal number two would leave Storhamar 5-1 on aggregate, with 50 remaining regular playing minutes.

Current 1.4 was not too bad, either. It seemed to both teams. Salzburg poured against frustration rather than achievement, while Storhamars confidence rose in line with matchurets tick-tock, tick-tock.

– It is very fun. It is a lifetime experience to travel around Europe and playing hockey. But I did not think we’d go as far as this. I must admit, says Alexander Reichenberg, who came to Storhamar from Mjøs-rival Lillehammer front this season.

The home crowd thanks Christian Larrivée & amp; co with a standing ovation when the first period was ovcr.

In the middle period glued Red Bull Salzburg itself unsettling firmly around Oskar Östlund in Storhamars goal. An equalizing hung one in the air.

Nothing lashing

Especially when Christian Larrivée has been dismissed after six minutes, and Jimmy Andersson 70 seconds later. That is outnumbered play three against five for 50 seconds. It and subsequent four against five red Storhamar (fairly) smoothly off.

On the whole there was little to indicate that Aleksander Smirnovs ‘huddled’ team unit would unravel. It was Salzburg too weak as a team, as opposed to Hamar’s hockey heroes – whose style and game plan obviously fits well in the Champions Hockey League.

But Brian Fahey equalized to make it 1-1 just over five minutes into the 3rd period . A neat backhand past Östlund.

2.4 overall.

But the battle was really lost, for Salzburg.

Turku next

Home Team Jacob Berglund and Alexander Reichenberg, with several, could not afford to make a cuddle and demonstration.

Salzburg players became even more acidic. 11 minutes before the end, three minutes after the levy, did Berglund 2-1 in hideout games. Salzburg picked out the keeper to play with an extra field player, and two (six to four) when Erik de la Rose was expelled four minutes before the end.

Salzburg equalized again, 2-2 by Brett Sterling. 70 seconds before the final was Jimmy Andersson tomålsscorer when he entered 3-2 plot the Salzburg goal.

The ending was However, a transport leg – for Storhamar – the next stop in Europe: TPS Turku, which has won the Finnish Championship 10 times.

Over and out for Oilers

Stavanger Oilers had a far worse position than Storhamar front return matches of the Champions Hockey League 16 Round when they smoke 0-3 away against Eisbären Berlin.

In the return match in DnB Arena led the Oilers a period 3-2 after Josh Soares and Dan Kissel turned the match with two quick goals, but the Germans equalized one second before the second break.

In the goalless third period had Eisbären Berlin full control of the promotion.
