Bjoergen smashes all records – Aftenposten

The Greatest Olympic queen last year. Great World Cup queen yesterday. But Marit Bjoergen (34) will not count gold medals before she sits in the rocking chair.

FALUN: 34-year-old strolled across the finish line and received tribute from her teammates. It was Bjørgens championship gold number 20. And she was as happy as at the 19 preceding.

In Sochi last year won Bjoergen three Olympic gold medals and became the greatest female Olympian with a total of six medals of the noblest rank.

On Lugnet ski stadium in Falun yesterday she won her gold medal number 14, as many as Russian Yelena Välbe. But Bjoergen has several medals total in the World Cup.

It was gold number 20 overall in the World Cup and Olympics. An outrageously achievement. And in the hours after the race was Bjoergen hailed in all channels.

Among other said sports historian Tom A. Schancke Aftenposten that Bjoergen is “the all-time finest Norwegian sports star.”

– I do not think anything about compare sports. It is clear that I have experienced a lot and made many medals. It’s big, but I do not like to compare sports.

12 years after the first World Championship gold

The pressure on her was huge after the international press conference. She had to take a little timeout before she answered questions from Norwegian journalists who talked at each other.

Much dealt records. All athlete she won earlier. About the future. About revenge from Sochi Olympics. But Bjoergen stressed that it was yesterday relay gold was more important then and there. That she was so focused on new tasks and flows. Cross country queen said she was proud of what she has performed in his career since the first World Cup gold in Val di Fiemme 12 years ago.

But the conclusion was:

– I’d better think about what I’ve done when I’m sitting in the rocking chair said Bjoergen.

She had a perfect starting point before the final stage.

Heidi Weng tore field to pieces at the first stage. Therese Johaug kept away for prancing Charlotte Kalla and Sweden on the other.

Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen went from Sweden and Finland in the third.

Bjoergen could go out on the last leg of control .

Went over the moon

34-year-old went out hard, rose all the way, and the last few kilometers were a long lap of honor for Trønder.

On the run had Bjoergen more than good enough time to wave the Norwegian flag. She enjoyed the moment.

– I had time enough to feel the crowd pressure. Especially when I came down to the stadium. It was a bliss.

Relay gold may have been her last in a championship. Bjoergen will not think about the future before Falun Cup is over. But in an interview with Adresseavisen revealed manager Guri Hetland she thought Bjoergen will take another year.

Asked about Hetland was on to something, black gold wholesaler:

– Yes, she can be. But I have not taken a stand to it, this I take to spring. But it is certainly opportunities. I have written agreements in several years, so we’ll see. It is a World Championships in Lahti in two years and a new Olympics three years. There is always something to look forward to, but I have no thoughts on this now.

It was both relief and jubilation in the Norwegian camp. Lubricating boom and stafettfiaskoen Sochi Olympics has annoyed cross girls in a whole year.

The gold in Falun was a revenge which tasted. And it seemed on the runners.
