World Cup bronze Velta – BergensAvisen

Velta was the longest in the trial before Thursday’s competition with 131.5 meters, but did not fully follow up initially. 126.5 meters gave eighth front final round, but where did the world champion of the little hill full flap.

128.5 meters below bit heavy compared held to topple third medal in as many attempts in Falun.

– I am very pleased. I strikes a bit initially, but hung still handy. A good second jump under heavy conditions were luckily enough to medal, said Velta NRK.

– I was very nervous at first, but it went into the final round, he added.



Superb

Lommedalen-jumper could do nothing with world champion Severin Freund. German, who was beaten by Velta with some small tenth of normal ground, put hill record in the final round with 135 meters. Thus he won with formidable 22.2 point advantage to the nearest competitor.

– It was impossible to beat Freund today. He was absolutely superb, stated Velta.

Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer was third after the first round and followed up with a brilliant jump of 130 meters in the other. Thus veteran silver medal and his tenth World Championship medal on Thursday.

Anders Bardal was second after the first round with a jump of 131.5, but in the final round mastered not Trønder pressure. 122 meters held only to sixth place in the end.

– Boring, but it proved to be. I was very excited at the top before the second half. Sure I’m very disappointed, said Bardal.



Forfang lifted

Anders Fannemel was sixth after the first round after jumping 129 meters. 127 meters in the final round gave seventh place in the end.

Johann Forfang had to settle for 118 yards and 23-space after the first half of Thursday’s big hill event. In the final round lifted junior world champion sharply and landed at 127 meters. It gave a jump on the result list to 18th place in the end.

– It was very funny. The conditions were a bit easier than in the first half and then I’m extremely clever to fly down to the ground, said Forfang NRK. (© NTB)
