Gruber show when Moan lost bronze asked – VG

FALUN / OSLO (AP) Magnus Moan (31) had los individually Worlds medal after jumping competition, but had to settle with a bitter fourth place.

After losing bronze sprint against the German Johannes Rydzek he struck in anger with the rod inside the target area. But he took it with good humor afterwards:

– It was not the day today, unfortunately. I think I do a good competition. I try, and I think I go ugly fast when I am up and head over. What shall I say? Margins were not on my side today either. Life goes on, it’s just a ski race, he says to NRK.

VG LIVE: We followed cross country competition in combined here!

It remains one team event at the World Championships for combined runners. Nevertheless, Moan far in implying that he rejects himself to it, despite a relatively encouraging individual competition Thursday – with one good jumps and a usable cross, where he thus became number four.

– Right now I feel drained. I’m a little tired. I have to go a round with myself to find hungry, says Moan VG.

For NRK he used words that he doubted himself for Saturday’s competition, which is a twin relay over 2×7,5km after ski jumping competition with one pass.

– Are you out of shape?

– Definitely not! Several of the runners I went along with, said afterwards that it went very fast. I take that as a good sign, says Magnus Moan.

Have driven height arrangements

trøndere has focused more on cross than jump in World Cup season and partly driven by altitude training in Seiser Alm before the championship in Falun. National coach Bjorn Kare Ingebrigtsen admits that it has not been entirely successful.

– In my head, it’s about practicing what you are good at. In the height you need to go slowly, says Ingebrigtsen VG.

– Should he not been in height?

– Hard to say. Magnus has prioritized it to stay healthy, first and foremost. But performance wise it has not turned out positively. It should have been done anything differently to get out the last extra gear, says Ingebrigtsen, which will now compose twin made in Saturday’s final World Cup competition.

Joergen Graabak confirmed to VG that he will return home. Olympic king from Sochi last think it just gets gambling by management to use him.

– You must be leaders managers and get the boys up again, says former combined champion and NRK expert Fred Borre Lundberg during the live broadcast by the remarkable gloomy mood among Norway kombiess.

Lundberg believes Moan and the yoiks end jump specialist Håvard Klemetsen should constitute Norwegian team Saturday.

– I am aware, says Klemetsen VG.

Gold Gruber

Thursday’s gold went to Austrian Bernhard Gruber. First he jumped down the hill, then broke his French Francois Braud in one of the last slopes of Falun and cruised to gold.

Jason Lamy Chappuis (also France) was hooked by a few kilometers before Braud . They went long as tettrio 10-kilometer, where Gruber finally was separate class.

– We take the lead talked and agreed to switch to go. A perfect tactic to keep the distance down to the second group (where Moan chased). A good tactical race, says gold medalist from Austria.

Braud secured the silver fine, while Chappuis was eventually executed. He was overtaken by both moan and Rydzek, which made up about bronze in demand. There was north man thus beaten at the finish line after taking up the pace considerably in the chasing group underway.

Norway thus has not won individually combined gold at the World Championships since 2001. It remains therefore one team competition in Falun. Also Magnus Moan, Norway combined profile through ten years, still lacks individual championship gold.

– I’m still hungry. Now a three-year championship block finished. Now I’ll use next season to recharge properly. The motivation is there, but how long it will be, I do not know, says 31-year-old told VG.
