Lover Minister openness – Dagsavisen

– The sport is a great democratic movement that will govern themselves. It commits in the sense that it must be shown full disclosure of the significant proportion of Community funds they are awarded each year. That was not the case so far, I had to intervene. I saw no other way, said Minister of Culture said.

She did clear in the letter she sent to sports president yesterday morning. Now she demands full transparency in the economy and the financial statements of the central link in Norwegian sport. Everything should on the table – travel expenses and other expenditure items down to voucher level.

Even greater transparency

And sports president has taken the signals.

– I think we live in a society must become more transparent. Sports are a big part of this. What is now coming from the minister is one thing, but I think we are going to open in other areas when the pool is finished with his work, says Tom Tvedt.

The committee he refers to is a transparency committee now is set down, and headed by John G. Bernander.

and when asked if this had happened without the media had taken hold of it, he replied:

– there is a eternal question, but I think that this would pressure forward. We are part of a big world, and openness and trust is crucial. I think the answer is yes.

After the meeting with the Minister of Culture on Monday let both Tom Tvedt and secretary general of the Norwegian Confederation of Sports, Inge Andersen off their travel expenses in the period Tom Tvedt has been idrettspresident.

Confidence

– the main thing for me is the selection we have set down. For us not explicit about attachments or travel expenses, but about openness culture throughout Norwegian sports. These efforts will go unabated on. We have to go through this, come out the other end and have the trust of the Norwegian people. There is nothing we adopt, it’s something we create, says Tvedt.

Yesterday VG with a comparison of travel expenses to the Norwegian and Swedish sports president Björn Eriksson. He has traveled to far less. The comparison found Tom Tvedt is unfair.

– I’m the only president in the world who are responsible for both the Olympic, Paralympic, mentally retarded and deaf. When I then compared with my Swedish colleague, who has a third of that responsibility, it is sad, he said.
