New injury shock for Rekdal: – Do not know what ails Moa – Dagbladet.no

VALLE (Dagbladet): Vålerenga coach Kjetil Rekdal (47) and the players met the press again today, after a short week with a muzzle.

The Oslo team prepares match against Tromso in two days. With zero points – and one goal in the Premier League – it begins to ring alarm bells.

One of those not trained in Valle today was Mohammed “Moa” Abdellaoue (30). He was brought back from Bundesliga club Stuttgart last year, just to score goals.

But Dagbladet says Rekdal that Moa is irrelevant to the fight against Tromso.

– He took a hit in training last week. We’re investigating what it is for something, he said.

Thus shaking damage again the former national team player who was long out with a knee injury in Stuttgart.

Twisting knee

Physiotherapist Eirik Bjærke stated Aftenposten on Monday that he did not think it was anything serious. It was suggested a shift in the knee. But that was then, and not now.

Rekdal says:

– As long as we have no diagnosis, or good status, we will not say anything. Had I known anything, I would have said it. He received a blow on the training ground and had to resign. Now we need to get explored this in a proper way, then we’ll give a diagnosis on it. It is very wrong to stand and say that it is such and such, then it is either worse or better.

– So he is irrelevant to Tromso?

– Anyone who did not train today is obsolete. Marcus Sandberg (goalkeeper) is also out, the same Jesper Arvidsson.

Rekdal continues:

– When we sat down and thought a likely first XI in January, so there are some missing players. This is in addition to that we have ended in impasse. But it is not sorry for us. There is no sin on us at all. How to experience others as well. It is my mission to get loose tangle here.

Rekdal makes an extra tension before Sunday’s game. The veteran Freddy call it “half-crisis” if Vålerenga loses against Tromso.

Details in the game

– How has training week been?

– The same as always. It has been about details in our own game – how to defend ourselves, and how we should attack. We are aware that we need to improve. When we have zero points in four games, we know that total have been a little too bad, says Rekdal.

– I would not say that we have been ass badly in the fighting. We’ve had periods where we’ve been good. We’ve had periods where we have been really good. And then there have been periods that have not been real good at all. It has been very unstable.

– Statistically we should have had points for game and chances. But football is not always logic. The logic is there in eight out of ten cases, has not been on our side.

Rekdal believes it “would only be missing” that the club is not subject to criticism on the basis of early season.

– But the amount and truth in the criticism can be discussed. If you are told that you are fucked every day, you come to believe in it at some point. It is human, he points out.

– Expected much

About the ambitions for the rest of the season says VIF boss:

– Unlike the media we have a pretty quiet compared to ambitions. I know that it expected much more of Vålerenga than reality suggests. We have budgeted for sixth place for the third season in a row. And up there it’s not terribly far. But we’re not up there with long periods without victories.

– Right now the goal is to take the first points. Once that is done, we will try to climb past a team. Then another layer. We’ll take this step by step. There are 26 laps to go, it’s more than enough time. But there is no underestimating the situation.

– We were in a like period last year as well. There are many elements that make that we have the stability and strength that some other teams have. It’s about the composition of the stall to do a bit of economics. Many of the players have had a steep learning curve. But when we have stability, we are pretty good, maintains Rekdal.
