Norway won easy – but now awaits Denmark and Croatia in the Olympic qualification – VG

HERNING / OSLO (AP) (Norway-Bahrain 35-29) Norway took a small step towards the Olympic Games with big win over Bahrain on Friday evening. But now wait considerably tougher resistance in Denmark and Croatia.

– We knew we would win this battle. We do not know against Denmark. It becomes a much bigger challenge for us, says national coach Christian Berge VG after the game.

Norway has not played Olympic Games since 1972, and it is hoped that it will succeed 44 years later.

Bahrain was as expected no big problem for the Norwegian guys. Denmark Saturday and Sunday Croatia will probably be considerably worse in two final matches similar. The top two teams to the Olympics in Rio this summer.

– Norway should hundred levels up if they are to beat Denmark on Saturday said Joachim Boldsen as TV3 expert. He is a former Danish national team star.

– It was as expected. We knew this would be a hard battle. Bahrain plays very unconventional, and we play rarely against this. Then it will be so. But there is much we can do better, no doubt, says Berge.

– First Day is over with a straightforward victory. They do what they must, stated Kristian Kjelling as TV3 commentator.

Norway’s top scorer was Kristian Bjørnsen, with ten players. It also gave him bestemann price match. All goals were field goal – none of the box this time.

– It was good, it. We must be satisfied with two points today. We knew there would be a war game, and that if we were patient enough, we would wear them out at the end. How was it also says Bjørnsen VG.

He believes it will be easier for national team guys to motivate themselves 100 percent before tomorrow’s meeting with Denmark. Today it was much RUF and niggles against Bahrain.

– It is all about concentration and attitude to match. There we have little to go on. The preparations are good enough, but it is probably a bit in mind that this fight we win anyway. It’s an insanely dangerous thought, explains Bjørnsen.

Tung initially

The captain Bjarte Myrhol struggled nosebleeds early and had to get help bench. Norway was not in the lead until after ten minutes – with 6-5.

VG Live : We followed the live broadcast.

– Bahrain played with an aggressive defense, and we meet we players we’ve never seen before – only on video. It is difficult to prepare for, says Bjørnsen.

Norway had a disaster ending to 1.omgang and Bahrain went from 12-15 to 15-15. 15 goal against such a bad team in half an hour says mostly about poor defense and goalkeeping from Norwegian side. Christian Berges men went to the break with 16-15 lead.

– Screwed it

Most probably thought Norway should take lightly close in 2.omgang but doomed Bahrain kept pace and led as late as 21-20.

Two quick rescues of Bergerud made Norway came in tremålsledelse at 27-24, and eventually held Norway one four målsledelse. At 30-25 Norway came first time five goals ahead.

– Norway turned to when they needed. Bahrain has used up what little gunpowder they had, said Kristian Kjelling as TV3 commentator.

You got this? Mamelund: – Is it April Fools?

Christian Berge has a lot to grab before the Denmark game Saturday but victory against Bahrain may be what the Norwegian team needed to get started.

Berge had been quiet at halftime against Bahrain, despite the bad game.
