And that was when Sundby showed why he has been the world’s best skier this season. 32-year-old managed to continue to push themselves and managed to go relatively well technically in the difficult conditions at Beitostølen.
After passing at 46.8 km chaired suddenly Sundby with 49.9 seconds Rothe. That head start gave he never by.
Sundby painted on into his head, and finally won by 1:27 on rival from Voss. Magne Haga took championship bronze medal with a very strong rally. The youngster was only 16 seconds behind Rothe of the goal.

– It was blytungt. I must admit that I was hoping for the same conditions as yesterday, but it became a rite of passage and an insanely good workout, says Sundby NRK.
– It was an incredibly fun duel with Shur. He held a terrific speed, while I had the help of Magne (Haga) Occasionally, he continued.
Fallow shovel
After finish divulged Sundby while he had a proper “Donald tryn» underway.
– at the fourth round “face-planted” I have something insane in the trail here, he says, shows a broken Ski tip NRK.
– Fortunately, it was possible to walk with a broken Ski tip. I was a bit skeptical at the time, and lost a few seconds, but skiing was saved so that it just was possible to go. I turned my face and lost a few seconds, but it was negligible, he said.
Sjur Rothe says the state channel that he – long – had threatened to strike Sundby.
– I thought I’d have a chance of passing 41 kilometers, but then I realized that it was about the silver. I looked around me and saw that it was not only me who is in pain out there.
– I knew Martin is strong. I knew it was tough when he started the race. I tried to shock him a little at first, but at the end there were class differences. With Martin at the starting line was basically a battle for the silver for my part, he adds.
– Fascinating Exercise
Sundby said to NRK that the current femmil with interval start is a good example why exercise should be included in the World Cup program.
– We must make sure to get this distance into the World program ,. It is a very fascinating exercise to go and I think it’s exciting distance to the public, he said.
