Alexander Kristoff got people price: – Porter not grudge jury – Aftenposten

The cyclist was not nominated this year male performer, was voted by the audience at Sports Gala.

It was controversial when Alexander Kristoff was not among the nominees that year male athlete. But people have been him voted Arets name, the price is the most prestigious of the active athletes.

– I’ll fit it in prize closet, said Kristoff in thanking.

After winning the prestigious award, he found not fit to be bitter for the missing nomination many felt he should have had.

– Was it extra good to get this price?

– No, I bear no grudge when it comes to jury or something like that. But it was good to get the price and after a good season it is nice to get recognition. And it suggests that I’ve had a good season when I become “year name” said Kristoff Aftenposten.

Was surprised

He won the vote in competition with Marit Bjoergen, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, Cecilia Brækhus, Magnus Carlsen, Joergen Graabak, women’s national handball, Kjetil Jansrud, Therese Johaug, Mariann Vestbøstad Marthinsen, Martin Johnsrud Sundby and Mats Zuccarello.

– Is it extra fun get a price that audiences have been through?

– It is. It means almost most, it is the Norwegian people think. That means that people have been joined by what I have done in years.

– I was a bit surprised when they read out my name, and thought “what should I say now?”. I practiced my little plane over here this morning, but I thought it was not so likely that I was going to win, so it was with one experiment, says Kristoff with a big smile.

He had a great season on the bike last year and won, among other classic Milano-Sanremo and two Tour de France stages.

– My wife has managed to keep this well hidden, but she was very excited to get on Sports Gala, and I wondered the slightly why, says Koss, who won because of the efforts of the organization Right to Play.

– I’m very proud of what has happened – that we manage to reach over one million children in activity every week in over 20 countries – children who have never had the opportunity to play and engage in activity before . Especially for girls. The sport joy that we take for granted and experience as naturally in Norway, the we manage to build up in other countries. What I experienced as a child, we must give all children the opportunity to experience.
