English media: – Steven Gerrard leaves Liverpool after season – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Several English newspapers reported this evening that Steven Gerrard will leave Liverpool after this season to end his career abroad.

Express writes tonight that 34-year-old is going to announce within 24 hours that this season is his last in red Royen.

Reliable Daily Telegraph reports the same evening, while Times journalist Tony Barrett writes that Gerrard is heading away on Twitter.

Liverpool legend

Steven Gerrard has played in Liverpool entire career, and is the definition of a “enklubbsspiller.” The highlight of his career on Merseyside came when he won the Champions League in 2004/05-season.

Editor of liverpool.no, Torbjorn Flatin, told the same website that Liverpool are now losing their best player of all time, but that he must choose even how he will end his career.

– I am somewhat agree with that Brendan Rodgers has said previously that Steven Gerrard is in a position where he must be allowed to choose what he wants. If he believes it now is to leave Anfield, he must be allowed without anyone questioning or blames him for it, saying Flatin.

In a 2-2 match against Leicester in the afternoon Gerrard scored twice from the penalty spot. Now he can thus be built in his last months as Liverpool player.

US likely

Express writes that the North American league MLS is the most likely destination for the Liverpool captain and that several clubs – including Los Angeles Galaxy – is interested in retrieving midfield veteran.

Torbjorn Flatin think Gerrards decision about the captain is no longer at its best.

– Now it starts to get many games where he can not influence the game so he gladly wish, and then I realize that he begins to think that it’s okay to go out while he is, if not quite on top, but at a high athletic level , he said.

Gerrard will not want to go to an English club of respect for his beloved Liverpool.

The captain has played for the Reds since he was eight years and stands with 695 matches and 180 goals for the club.

He has raised eleven trophies in his time at Anfield.
