Eckhoff shoots away: – Now it’s very end. I am so tired. – Adresseavisen

The expectations were great for the Norwegian skyskytterkvinnene before the final mass start at the World Cup on home soil. After the triumph in the sprint and a sensational relay victory, they had enough yourself hoped to crown a brilliant championship with yet another medal.

But the last distance disappointed world champions Tiril Eckhoff, Marte Olsbu and Fanny Horn Birkeland. With a total of 10 penalties during four shootings, none of them with the medal match at Holmenkollen.

– Now there is little pep in this body here. Now it’s very end. I am so tired. It will be good to get home to my mother, said a whacked Tiril Eckhoff to NRK after the finish. Dog ended on a 24th place.

Later she met the Norwegian press corps:

– I’m very happy with a great 24th place, she said ironically.

– I led for one lap, I’m happy with. Now I’m tired, halvsyk and happy with what I’ve been through.

– How was the support out of the race?

– Absolutely magical. I am so lucky to have experienced this, says Eckhoff.

Gold game was eventually settled by the French World Cup Queen Marie Dorin Habert, who with flawless shooting secured her third gold and sixth medal of the championship. Thus, she took a medal in all distances in the championship.

She struggled to find the right English words to describe dream championship victory interview, but eventually managed to come with a little explanation of the amazing achievements

– I’ve had good preparation, skis have been good and the atmosphere has been good. I like it here, said Habert NRK.

German laura dahlmeier went into silver, while Finnish Kaisa Mäkäräinen took bronze.

It however bright for Tiril Eckhoff early in the race. With a full house on the first shooting, she was the first woman at the shooting range on the other shootings. Four flashes was again shot down at high speed, but the last shot, a kjempebom.

After each penalty loop after the first shooting, hanging Olsbu and Birkeland after the course. But other shooting hit duo each their full house and knocked on the battle for the medals.

Unfortunately, it should only be temporary, for the third shooting disappeared all hope of Norwegian medal. Olsbu missed twice, Eckhoff three times and Birkeland once.

When it was to little avail that both Olsbu and Birkeland only saw white flashes on the final standing shooting.

Olsbu was to finally best Norwegian in 7th place after a good day on the course. Birkeland came in ninth, while Eckhoff finished in a disappointing 24th place.

Olsbu equaled hence her best World Cup placement ever, while Birkeland never been better in a mass start at the highest level.

– This championship has exceeded all expectations, says southerner.

Both she and Eckhoff must be able to say that we are pleased with how the championship has unfolded.
