Neville kicked in Valencia – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Gary Neville got only sixteen games as manager of the Spanish side Valencia. Announced today the club on their own websites that Neville leaves the club with immediate effect.

– After careful consideration, the club decided to make a change in Valencia’s best interest for the rest of this season. We thank Gary for the job he has done in Valencia and wish him well for the future, writes the team in a statement.

It is, if you were in doubt, a pretty way of saying that he has been sacked as manager after a total of 28 matches at the helm.

Neville never quite got the hang of Valencia and lost eight of the sixteen league games he led the team in. Only three league victories were on the former British expert commentator and Manchester United legend after he took Valencia job last December.

When was the club on a disappointing ninth place, but invested heavily in that Neville would lift the team despite the fact that work in Valencia was his first as a head coach.

Now, 16 games later, Valencia is in 14th place in La Liga table.

According to the press release from the club acquires Pako Ayesteran as the new head coach of Valencia the season. Ayesteran was assistant in the team of Golden Age between 2001 and 2004, when Valencia among others won La Liga twice.

Then Ayesteran assistant in Liverpool between 2004 and 2007 and has been head coach of including Israel and Mexico, he now takes over Valencia.
