While Johaug unsuspecting waving to the crowd, smokes a historical record – Dagbladet.no

Canmore / OSLO (Dagbladet): Therese Johaug was devastatingly superior in jakstarten who finished the Tour de Canada tonight. She was so superior that she took the time to wave to the crowd before she crossed the finish line a scant minute ahead Heidi Weng.

Now it turns out that she’d spent so long on the run.

Krista Pärmäkoski went six small tenths faster than Therese Johaug on today’s stage, which means that she will be awarded World Cup victory in the race. Now you might think that it does not have much to say for Johaug, who only think that she won the tour overall.

But today’s second place makes Johaug stopped at 17 victories in the World Cup this season and thus tangerere Marit Bjørgens record of 17 victories came in the 2011-12 season. Had Johaug been six tenths quicker the goal she had brought World Cup victory number 18 – and simultaneously enthroned at the top of the history books.

– It’s a bit silly. She could have been historic. I do not think she cares so much about it, says Expressen commentator Tomas Pettersson.

But where does the good Swede bit wrong. Johaug was not aware that she was so close to the stage win, and thus also the historic 18th World Cup victory.

– Neeeei, she says as she leans back in the press zone after the race. And smiles.

– Yeah, yeah, same shit, same shit, summarizes her.

the wonderful season was not exactly devastated by the fact that she waved from another record in cross-country track.

– Well, now it was a bad season here, she laughs.

– Alas, it has been a fantastic season, so if I have seventeen or eighteen victories player so far not matter.

the race today was the season’s very last World Cup for Cross Country athletes.

Krista Pärmäkoski finished fourth overall in the Tour after the good completion stage.
