Northug in the war for baby brother: – The comment must Petter stand – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Cross-country skier Tomas Northug (25) is one of several that can be scrapped from the national team the following season. It admits coach Vidar Løfshus.

Løfshus confirms that Tomas Northug, Simen Andreas Sveen, Chris Jespersen and Paal Golberg among runners who are at risk, which is justified by saying that “they have not had results this season.”

– This is something we (national team) are discussing. They have not delivered as expected. It is natural that there will be a discussion about what is best, says Vidar Løfshus Dagbladet.

At Tomas Northug risks remaining outside the national team, like big brother Petter Northug bad.

– If you look at the other runners, such as Simen Andreas Sveen, so he got the one year, unless he blew the sound barrier, says Petter Northug to Adresseavisen.

Løfshus chuckles of Northug initiatives.

– the comment must Petter even stand. We have had many runners who have not blown sound barrier, says coach Løfshus Dagbladet.

Won the talent?

Trønder brothers may thus end up in the same privatlag next season, where Stig Rune Kveen has served as Petter Northug coach.

– We can now see first. I will not be influenced by signals, says Petter Northug to Adresseavisen.

Tomas Northug struggled with illness much of this season. He took his first and so far only World Cup victory in a classic sprint in Otepää (Estonia) in January 2015. He also reached the final of the sprint under Falun World Championships the same year where he was sixth.

– He has had an unlucky season, but we must also see the long lines and if he has gotten out their talent, says Løfshus Dagbladet.

This is far from the first time elder brother Northug flings with lip around the brothers and the national leadership.

U23 criticism

in February said he was disappointed that the smallest brother Even Northug got the U23 World Championships and World Cup in Lahti.

– There drawers Northug-my heart to such a degree, for which he (Even) nothing to do. It’s World Cup sprint in Lahti, he wins withdrawal race in Meråker, and then at all to travel to a race no one cares about, it’s just dumbfounding, said Petter Northug.

The statement was nothing special as even Northug was never offered place at the World race.

– I never got an offer to go the World Cup in Lahti, so when I accepted the U23 World Cup, said Even Northug told NRK.

“Monsen Minneløp”

Before NM at Røros in January 2015 was Petter Northug forced down from altitude camp to go NM-sprint. Der stumbled further as “lucky loser” from both the quarter- and semi-finals, and walked across the finish line last in the final.

Where and when was Petter Northug completely confident that he had shown enough to go the World Cup sprint in Falun.

Asked whether he had set to start if not sprint coach Arild Monsen had demanded it, he smiled good.

– We can call this Arild Monsen Minneløp, said Petter Northug.

Fewer seats

For next season will probably fewer Norwegians set to start in the world Cup after the quota changes by the international Ski Federation (FIS).

– we have received strong indications that fewer will go the world Cup and it can go beyond the number of runners we also have the national team. Nothing is decided yet. This season we have had 10 to 12 men to start in sprint, while next season may soon end with a maximum of eight. This means tougher competition for places, says Vidar Løfshus Dagbladet.

Chris Jespersen said to NRK that he expects to be scrapped.

– I fully agree that I have performed good enough. I will not feel good if I can continue (the national team) after such a season, said Jespersen to state channel.
