A frenzied folkehav crafted mood when Tiril Eckhoff was called forward to receive the gold medal.
– There is great when the whole family and all my friends – and so many that I do not know – pops up. It was great fun being able to sing the national anthem in unison, said Eckhoff Dagbladet.
– So black on life
But we are not more than ten days back in time before Tiril Eckhoff felt far from that a world champion. On a test run at Beitostølen missed her five out of ten shots – and knew the doubts spread.
– I felt that everything was going to Helv …. I saw black life after the test race. I stand here with World Championship gold today due to hard work, because I could not have been more on the bottom than I was right then, says the freshly world champion.
Tiril Eckhoff has spent Joar Himle as shooting coach on and off this season, but since Christmas, the two worked particularly closely. Himle is the man who between 2004 and 2006 was hired by Ole Einar Bjoerndalen as his personal shooting coach, in a period where Bjoerndalen brought home many of their World Cup victories.
Called in frustration
In February had Himle two daily shooting sessions with Eckhoff in Holmenkollen, but he was not then Tiril and the rest of the national team then traveled on VM collection of Beitostølen. Then he was hosting a an extended planned visit to the farm home in Voss.
As the bell rang the phone. Tiril Eckhoff had shot lousy on said test course, and was frustrated.
– I calmed her down and got the focus back on jobs. It was about to convince her that she did not suddenly become a bad shooter, says Joar Himle Dagbladet.
In the evening he was standing right by the stage and came with Tiril Eckhoff got his first World Championship gold around neck. Eckhoff does not hide Himle should take much of the credit for her for the first time hit a full house in an individual race.

– Earthy man

– Joar is very good with what he does, and he has a very good track record, especially with Ole Einar (Bjoerndalen). In addition, he is a very down to earth man, and security itself. Himle was equally delighted at Tiril behalf tonight and believes that she has worked extremely hard on the range to lift taking that little extra that was needed to become the best in the world.
– Improved shooting technique
– We have worked with to improve shooting technique her standing. It has focused on creating a sense of security there, and she showed up today. Absolutely amazing, says Joar Himle Dagbladet.
It was just one night as this they have worked on in all shooting sessions, and then it was so wonderful to see that the work has paid off.
– This was what we wanted, and then it’s amazing that she did it. There has been absolutely great to work with Tiril because she is so honest and nice to work with, says Joar Himle.
