(Dagbladet): Wada recommends shutting Russia out from Rio Olympics next summer after report the international anti-doping agency presented today.
But the 335-page report is not just about the complete farce around the Russian anti-doping work, it shows an international athletics in complete decay, steeped doping, corruption and bribery.
– We do not think Russia is the only country with a doping problem and we do not believe that athletics is the only sport with a doping problem, said WADA commission chairman, Dick Pound, at a press conference today.
Guarantee cleanup
Lately, however, is small consolation for the newly elected president of athletics IAAF, Sebastian Coe. In a press release says Coe that he has already asked the board of the International Association of Athletics Federations to consider what sanctions they will impose on Russian athletics.
– I guarantee to our athletes, partners and fans that where there are deficiencies in our management or anti-doping program, we will fix it. We will do everything necessary to protect the clean athletes and rebuild confidence in our sport, says Coe, adding that the IAAF will continue to cooperate with the law enforcement authorities who are now investigating the scandal.
Hansen awaiting comment
Norway’s outgoing athletics president, Svein Arne Hansen, board member of the International Association of Athletics Federations as a result of that he is European Athletics president.
Hansen is very little talkative when Dagbladet when him by phone.
-Since I am a board member of the IAAF, I can not comment until tomorrow. I need to talk with (Sebastian) Coe first, Hansen says to Dagbladet.
