Swedish commentator criticizes Johaug and co: – Why did the Swedes comfort Weng? – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Heidi Weng felt like an idiot yesterday after she went in goal a game for early in the final jakstarten in mini tour in Kuusamo.

Dagbladet wrote about a disconsolate Weng who was immediately taken care of by the Swedish rival IDA INGEMARSDOTTER.

– Heidi was comforted by all the goals, especially the Swedes. Ingemars Dotter held long around her, said Dagbladet journalist in Kuusamo, Tormod Brenna.

It was moving to get as much support and comfort. Particularly the Swedish, IDA INGEMARSDOTTER and Stine Nilsson, was very on hugged me and comforted. There I put very much appreciated, said Weng told Dagbladet.

Dagbladet commentator Esten O. Sæther came with the following tribute in his commentary:

– The scene where Swedish Ingemars Dotter consoles a seemingly inconsolable Heidi Weng under målseglet in Kuusamo is a lovely TV picture that better than anything else shows the truth about the Swedish Norwegian rivalry in cross-country track. For this sport is preferably a loving settlement in the family, he wrote.

Critical Swedish

But not everyone thinks it was a lovely TV picture. Colleague Tomas Pettersson, commentator in Expressen, says image where Ingemars Dotter comforted Weng, discusses a Norwegian problem:

For today criticizes Pettersson the Norwegian cross country girls for inadequate comforting Weng in the target area.

– It was a poignant scene in which poor Weng cried and sobbed at the finish line into the arms of Ingemars Dotter and Stina Nilsson. At the same time I could not help but be amazed that the Norwegian girls held off, writes Pettersson comments in Expressen.

– And I can say it here: it had hardly seen such whether Marit Bjoergen had been here. Lagmamma Bjørgen had presumably lifted Weng in his arms, comforting her all the way away from the camera and dried her tears, says the Swedish commentator.

Displayed sympathy

The Norwegian cross country girls are unlikely to agree with the criticism. Yesterday showed any sympathy with Weng after the unthinkable mistake.

– I figured nothing when Heidi sprinted to the finish. “Good God, should we target now?” I began to wonder. But we were supposed not. It’s incredibly sorry for Heidi, said Therese Johaug.

It’s incredibly boring for Heidi. She is very unhappy. But we go everything we can all the way, and it’s easy to go a little confused in fact, defended Astrid Jacobsen.

– You are actually in their very own world when you go, so such maybe. One learns from his mistakes, so Heidi does not suffice it again. In that sense it was good it happened today and not in an even more important races, said Maiken Caspersen Falla.

Self Ironically

A few hours after the race however was Weng in good spirits again.

– I’m the world’s biggest idiot sometimes. I get quite to the majority. Now I wonder what comes next, go the wrong way might, said a self-ironic and smiling Weng

– You went to the finish after three rounds, but would walk four. What were you thinking while you lay in the snow there after sprinted all alone?

– When I realized what had happened had I most want to dig down. But then I thought that I did well just to keep going then … and make the best of it, told 24-year-old.

Pettersson has not yet replied to Dagbladet inquiries.
