Norway unbeaten in curling-EM – Dagbladet.no

The Norwegian curling gentlemen with Thomas Ulsrud spearheaded took two new victories in EM Monday. Norway is the only team without a loss after five rounds.

Ulsrud and his teammates began the day by turning Italy 8-3. Earlier in the tournament was Scotland, the Netherlands and Finland defeated in turn. Monday evening Czech Republic the same treatment. The match ended 9-4 in favor Norwegian.

Over half the tournament is now played for the Norwegian guys, but the two toughest challengers, Russia and Sweden, remains. Norway meets Swedes Wednesday with Russia’s last opponent in the group stage on Thursday morning.



Easy to Italy

Against Italy, it was never really exciting. The Italians took albeit a 1-0 lead, but Ulsrud and co. backfired direct and secured the 2-0 victory in the second half, making it 2-1 lead overall.

The Italians came back with 2-0 win in the fifth game of the score to 3-3, but then took the Norwegians show. It was 3-0, 1-0 and 1-0 in the sixth, seventh and eighth place. Then it was settled with Norwegian 8/3 win after strong finish.

In the fight against the Czech Republic beat Team Ulsrud tone with a 2-0 victory in the first two rounds. Then the battle largely settled. After four innings stood 6-1 and with Norwegian 3-0 victory in the seventh was all the excitement definitely gone.

When used Ulsrud chance to provide VM backup Sander Rølvaag some time on the ice. Rølvaag replaced Havard Vad Pettersson front the last three rounds, but received less playing time than he had wanted. Already after the eighth round thanked the Czechs for the game.

The Norwegian women’s team with ships Kristin Skaslien spearhead is about to lift themselves after a tough start to the championship. Monday followed made up Sunday’s victory against Estonia with 9-7 win over Russia.

Skaslien and her teammates, who now has two wins and three defeats in the tournament, is in sixth place on the table in the opening game after five rounds.
