(Dagbladet): Today it became clear that Rosenborg player Alexander Sørloth (19) has signed a 4.5-year contract with Dutch Groningen. That means Matthias Vilhjálmsson (28) and Alexander Søderlund (28) are the only established attackers left at Lerkendal next season.
At the same time the probability is high that also Søderlund sold during the winter. If it happens, it suddenly thin out on top for Trønders. Through Dagbladet calms however sports director Stig Inge Bjørnebye supporters that the club has a solution for all eventualities.
– We have a plan for substitutes. There we are working continuously. We do this in parallel with the interest in our players, says Bjørnebye.
– No simple matter
Earlier this fall put RBKs sport boss down with Sørloth and coach Kåre Ingebrigtsen to discuss young boy’s future. When was the feedback from the youngster clear: He wanted to Groningen.
It made it difficult to assess for Rosenborg, but eventually they accepted Sørloth request and allowed him to go.
– It was not easy at all. These are heirlooms in a double sense – in that it is a Sørloth and in addition is a very exciting talent as we had plans for, says Bjørnebye.
This season meant plans a lending to Bodo / Glimt, where Sørloth has blasted 10 goals and served four assists so far this season.
Rosenborg could not guarantee the tip as much playing time as he wanted next year.
– The plan we’ve had has almost exceeded all expectations, he had a very nice development, but Alexander stated that he was unsure of playing time here next year. There we could guarantee was that he was in our plans, says Bjørnebye, adding that dialogue between the parties has been good.
Hope Sørloth returns
